Squirrel paté dished by protests

A restaurant selling squirrel terrine has been forced to withdraw it after death threats from animal rights activists.

Protesters threatened to firebomb the Hadley Bowling Green Inn in Droitwich, Worcs, and to smash up the staff's cars over the £7.95 paté starter.

A female housekeeper was told: "I'm glad I don't work here because I wouldn't want to die in the fire."

After the dish was featured on local television the restaurant received about 25 threatening telephone calls and a string of malicious e-mails.

...they're RODENTS, and there are too damn many of them, IMHO. If it floats their boat, let them have seconds!!

2. Hear hear,

I've had squirrel, and it isn't my dish, and with all of the spongiform diseases running rampant throughout the squirrel kingdom, you couldn't get me to touch the critters now. But so long as they are treated humanely in life and death, I see no problem with this.

Just because an animal is cute and furry doesn't mean that it can't be food too.

3. The more squirrels we kill - the better.

Just as long as they're grey ones. These are nasty American invaders, and in a manner similar to Starbucks and MacDonalds they are taking over the country.

We could also do with killing some of the 'fluffy bunny' brigade.
