Any of you NYers familiar with Eddie's Pizza in Brooklyn? |
|
I never been to it, but they ship their pizzas all over the world via Fed Ex. The web address is www.flyingpizzas.com and their based at:
926 3rd Avenue Corner of 35th Street Brooklyn, NY 11232
My local supermarket carries these pizzas and I tried it out today. They are frozen and you have to let it defrost before you cook it at 500 degrees for five minutes. It's suppose to have that authentic NY pizza taste.
It wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as I remember pizza to be in NY. I'm just wondering how good their pizza is in NY.
They say their pizza is "kosher" and I'm not sure how that affects the taste of the pizza.

1. Never heard of it. Cannot imagine that a frozen/defrosted pizza |
|
could taste like a freshly made one. I think the kosher part implies something about the kind of cheese that is used, and there won't be any meat used.
Upon reading the details of the site I see why it might not taste like you usual NY Pizza. It is specifically Kosher pizza. Probably tastes good, but not your usual Italian pizza.
Wait for your next trip to NY and try the real thing. You will NEVER setttle for Pizza Hut or Dominos again.

Whenever I go out of town, the first thing I do when I come home is have a decent slice of pizza. Nobody makes it like the goombas on the corner, LOL.
That mass market chain stuff is...gah. I'm of the opinion that if you need the crust stuffed with cheese, and 5 pounds of meat + ranch dressing on a pizza, you don't really like pizza.

But I have a couple of NY-style pizzerias around here. They're good, but not as good the pizza I had in NY.
I've heard it is the chemical make up of the water in NY that makes the pizza so good.
So I took a chance with this kosher pizza from NY, but I think I will stick to my local NY style pizzas. At least that will be fresh.
