In a way, I'm glad. If he is *not* a complete figurehead, then he must occasionally disagree--however mildly--with his handlers, thus diluting their efforts. Quotes such as "haven't we already given money to rich people?" similarly...well, they don't exactly warm my heart, but they are evidence of an independent will that might, under some strange circumstances, actually be harnessed by the powers of good.

That hope is incredibly remote, though, I fear.
