Did you ever yell at your parents?
I didn't. I had my moments of quiet defiance, but I never raised my voice.

How about you.

1. Which time?
As a child I never would have thought of that option. As an adult I have on more than one occasion.

3. Why yell? My mom thinks I'm yelling even if I'm not.
But there's a whole dynamic there with her that would make you cry if you knew about it because it's so sad.

17. Nope, she never laid a hand on me but I certainly knew what
she was capable of if my brothers and I didn't obey. She didn't take any sh*t off of her kids and somehow just expected respect. We didn't always agree and I might talk back a bit, but yell? At my mother? Not in this lifetime. I always believed if she just thought we were thinking about hitting her we would have picked ourselves up off the floor.

I always wished I knew how my Mom pulled that off such respect because it wasn't always so calm and respectful when my kids were teens.

To this day none of my siblings or I would yell at my mother. She suffers from old age, arthritis, and other age related discomforts but I'm pretty sure she could take any one of us down if we got sassy with her.

7. Yes
Any different parents in any different time and I probably would have gotten myself beat.

I usually won the argument too..I'm really glad I have parents that were willing to let me disagree and voice what I was feeling.

my dad. He used to BULLY my brother for no good reason. All the years we were growing up, he would pick on and scold my little brother; I would yell at him to cut it out...My yelling did no good, though. But I couldn't stand it.

The bullying did NOT stop until my brother came home from having seen combat in VietNam. My dad hadn't seen any combat in WWII...

It makes me mad all over just to think about it. Fortunately, my brother brought his boys up extremely well; no bullying. And he and my dad are very good friends and have been for quite a while.

Sorry for the rant! It just took me back...

I really admire people who can suck it up and not yell...Good for you, yvr girl!

10. Nope.
I was defiant, stood my ground, but did not lose control. We learned a healthy respect for and fear of our parents when we were growing up.

14. Yes. I was quite a pain in the ass.
My Mom and I would have to have at least one screaming match a day. Didn't scream at Dad though, he would have put me through the wall. LOL. In fact the first time I ever actually screamed at him in anger was over the last election. I really let him have it over the Swift Boat shit and all, it was bad.
