Most pointless fight ever. (THIS POST WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS)

My God, they just threw Grievous in without explaining who or what he was (and yes, I know about Clone Wars, but I'm betting a large chunk of the audience didn't). There was no tension. No emotional payoff. Just a minor villain making general (pun intended) taunts and then getting his ass handed to him because he was too stupid to have his soldiers execute a Jedi he had "trapped". The best point of that fight was the cool thing he did with the lightsabers at the beginning, whirling them like snowblower blades, and it was only cool until Obi-Wan sliced his hand off, proving how useless that mode of attack is.

And Dooku...they just killed him. They just offed Christopher Lee. He should have escaped and General Grievous should have been killed in the opening battle. But noooooo...

/obnoxious geek who thinks he could have done Episode III at least a little better, even if he admits that he only could if he had the real one as a template

36. Well....
Episode II was about the Clone Wars, and the Clone Wars were mentioned in Episode IV, so I would hope most people would have at least HEARD of the Clone Wars.

Dooku had to die. It's the only way Anakin could become a Sith Lord.

38. Actually...
...judging by the movie, if Padme had divorced him he would have gone dark, but that's a whole 'nother argument.

Most of them would have heard of the Clone Wars, yes, but Grievous was introduced during the "Clone Wars" cartoon serial. Without seeing that, or reading one of the Clone Wars novels, you wouldn't know who the hell he was or why the hell that droid guy was breathing and coughing.

44. There can only be two Siths. Only the death of Dooku or Palpatine
could result in Anakin becoming a Sith.

48. I didn't say "Sith".
I said "dark".

Yes, eventually Dooku would have to die, but give him more than five minutes in the movie. Don't know how you'd work Anakin killing him then, but that's what I would have done. Of course, I'm not a billionaire.

27. That's not a sandtrooper.
That's a stormtrooper commander.

A standard sandtrooper is largely indistinguishable from a stormtrooper--except that their armor tends to be a lot dirtier, but the commanders have an orange pauldron instead of a black one.

Remember, Chewbacca's over two hundred. Two hundred and five at the time of Episode IV, IIRC.

And also: Leia likes it Wookiee style. So you don't need to marry one, just keep one as a fuck buddy.

37. Okay.
wasn't there a scene in Jedi where Luke asks Leia "do you remember our mother" and she replies "not much, but she was beautiful"... ok.. so if padme dies in childbirth, how is this possible?

Also, what was up with Yoda's "I will train you to have a seance with qui-gon in the desert, obi-wan?" line? Was it just to explain/set-up How Obi-wan lets DV kill him so easily in ep IV with the "if you kill me i'll be more powereful than you can imagine" schtick? Not to mention the ghostly reappearances of the jedi crew @ the end of RotJ.

Just saw sith for the 1st time 7 hrs ago. Will go again.

46. Obi-wan's death was the best way he could help Luke.
Edited on Thu Jun-09-05 11:14 PM by Left Is Write
It enabled him to be by Luke's side, so to speak, in battle.

ETA that I don't really like the continuity issue of Leia remembering her mother as beautiful and sad when it turns out she couldn't have remembered her mother at all. It's been a long time since I saw ROTJ, though.

51. She remembers Padme because of the Force.
It was hard to see, but Leia's eyes were open -- so she had images of Padme that she retained. Remember Yoda's line from ESB: "Through the Force, things you will see. Other places. The future...the past. Old friends long gone."

Luke's eyes were closed, but he did hear his mother's words when she said that there is still good in him (Anakin). It's pretty much the exact same phrase he used in Return of the Jedi.
