24. are you being serious?
they're basically cropped pants, right? you think only skinny people should wear them? how do you feel about shorts? what is appropriate for women with body fat to wear in the summer?

They make most look dumpy....sorry.

17. I almost died laughing one day
I saw this woman on the train one day that had on a halter top, a pair of capris that were those hideous plumbers crack type pants...and a pair of Uggs (Mukkluks? Whatever the ridiculous furry boot that is popular now).

And she had the nerve to stare at me. Sure, I had on a pair of bondage pants at the time (with lots and lots of zippers), but nobody saw my drawers when *I* bent over. :P

27. Hee-hee...sometimes dumpy can be comfortable.....I'm all dumpy
right now, myself. I'm just jealous that I can't wear them. I think they are cute, and if one is comfortable in an outfit-it will look better on you. I feel sooo uncomfortable in them...I've tried, but they are tooooo far down the dumpy scale on me. :(

35. I figured out that I AM dumpy.
Dressing "correctly" is not going to fool anyone, so I wear what I'm comfortable in.

5. No, they're wonderful.
You would not want to see me in shorts or even a skort, but I can feel scantily clad in a pair of capris.

It's essential to have the right shoes, though.

9. I'm with you. I wear capris all summer long
because trust me, the world is not ready to see me in shorts.

Oh, and I wear Teva flip flops all year long, even in the winter, drives people nuts.

41. Good for you!
We're not allowed to wear flip flops to work and no bare toes unless the temp outside is above 80 degrees. However, in the great Northwest an amazing number of people wear socks and sandals, and ;;;gasp;;; they do it with CAPRI PANTS.

Organic socks and Birkenstocks, no less.

20. Same here!
While my thighs and knees may be questionable, I have nice ankles. Plus it is just more comfortable in hot weather than a pair of pants!

To avoid the "dumpy" look, I wear denim capris with back pockets. :).

And I'm 20 so I guess I fit in one of the above poster's age range. ;).

I bought a couple of tops that go very well with capris and hip huggers- sleeveless and strapless, elastic on the bust, and loose over the stomache and hips. The fabric below the bust kind of flows out a little, hiding the gut yet looking plenty feminine at the same time. And my hair is just long enough to cover my shoulders and that little tiny bit of fat between the shoulder and bust. Lol. I love clothes, sorry.

:hi:

14. Ya know
When I was a kid and wore my sister's hand-me-down pants, and they were short on me (I'm taller than her), they were called highwaters and I got laughed at. When I went down south to visit my cousins they used to have a little rhyme: "The flood is over, the land is dry. Why you wear your pants so high?" :P

But, you know whats even worse than capris? MANPRIS. :scared:

23. The network (CBS?) had a problem with Mary Tyler Moore wearing them
on the Dick Van Dyke show. According to something I heard on some TV retrospective special, they had a rule about how many episodes she could wear them in (she had to wear skirts more often) and they had to make sure there was no "cupping" of her butt cheeks.

Did you catch Conan O'Brien on Thursday night? Triumph went to the trial to mock the Cult of the Tremulous Wounded Starchild*. Comedy gold...it was right up there with the time he razzed the Star Wars nerds.

and I think I'll go out and buy more just to tick some of you off! Seriously, when it's 100 degrees out, I do not want to walk around and expose my flabby middle-aged thighs to the general public. Capris allow me to maintin some of my dignity, spare the public the sight of my flabby thighs and also keep me cool!

If the capri pants are too long, they just look like floods. Clunky shoes are out, as are socks.
