after work i went to have my brakes checked.
it has been a while so i wasn't surprised that there was some work to be done. i just didn't know it would take THREE HOURS!! i finished the book i was reading (don't leave home without a book, ever) and the magazines they had were some tire mag, golf and some investment ones. and it was hot in the waiting room. finally they were done and when i got in my car it stunk. like someone had passed some gas in there. i started thinking about that seinfield episode with the bo in the car but this was not bo. and then my seat was all the way back and apparently the driver had been cruising because the seat was leaning back all cool. on way home i tried three times to get the seat back in the correct position. it always takes about a week for me to get it all back just right. oops to close, now to far, back too straight....

sorry, long day..

1. Why would they adjust the seat for a test drive?
I would have complained to the manager. They can't drive the freaking car without putting the seat back to look cool?????

2. i think it would take more than that to look cool in my 98 cavalier.
now i will admit, my legs are a little short so the seat is pretty close and most people have to slide it back so i will give them that. but the seat back is strange. i can see if they leaned it back because of the mirrors but the rearview one was out of my adjustment when i got in. i think the smell kind of took my mind off of all of this until the third time i tried to get everything back the way it was.

3. If you are as tall as I am...
It might be the only safe way to sit!

4. after work I went to get a tire, and they tried to sell me a brake job.
I waited in the waiting room, reading my magazine, for about 40 minutes. THen I looked outside and saw that they hadn't even moved my car from where I'd parked it. I was generally the only one in the waiting room, and I didn't see a whole lot of busyness in the garage. They were finally finished after over an hour had gone by, and I had to race home, scarf down some food, and race back out the door to make it to a meeting. When I went to the counter, they told me that the guy looked at my brakes and that I needed new brakes, then handed me a printout itemizing several hundred dollars worth of brake work. Man asked me if I'd like to set up an appointment for my brakes and I declined: I don't know if my brakes really need work, and if they do, a friend will do it for me.
That fucking place really pissed me off.
