Little more on the passing of one of us, Ed Bishop of UFO

Here is obit from the Telegraph newspaper UK A direct link didn't work, and you need to sign in if you do, look in the obits, I guess.

Ed Bishop
(Filed: 11/06/2005)

Ed Bishop, who died on Wednesday aged 72, was one of some 300 North American
actors whose careers
are spent in London.

In the course of almost 50 years he appeared on television and radio, as well as
in films. If he
never achieved star status, his pleasing stage presence and distinctive tones,
slightly tuned for
British ears, meant that he was often the first man to whom directors turned
whenever an American
was needed.

At the same time he was in demand for TV commercials; and it was no disadvantage
that his voice bore
a resemblance to that of President John Kennedy.

<snip>

A non-smoking, non-drinking supporter of CND and the Green Party, Ed Bishop is
survived by his third
wife Jane Skinner, whom he met while dressed up as General Pinochet in a
demonstration against the
arms trade, and by three daughters; a son died in a car crash.

===

Just a brief aside from me, he really could make himself sound like Kennedy. You can hear him here, performing as Kennedy. When I first heard this drama, I couldn't believe it was him.

Finally, more photos from the March 2004 protest he took part in.

Go here : http://www.voicesuk.org/ and click on this :

19 March 2004: To mark the first anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Iraq, Voices and friends staged a theatrical protest and tour or Whitehall with 5 performances. See a report of the event in pictures and read the 'accounting of the occupation' and testimonies of individuals.

Scroll and you'll see him in the fedora and trench coat, being Bush.

Sorry about using the Lounge, but I wanted as many people as possible to appreciate his activism, even if they were not familiar with him as 'Straker' and countless other roles. I didn't want this to get lost. He really was one of us in his politics and his philosophy and his activism.
