1. We just watched "Collateral"
Michael Mann is my old boss, and I really like and respect him, but Tom Cruise as an actor is about as interesting as watching water go down a sink.

He's such a cipher. That movie was so bad.

5. Michael Mann is a doll
I worked on "Miami Vice" with him for a couple of years, and learned a world from him. An absolutely terrific guy.

"Collateral" was so "Heat"-derivative, I expected to see Pacino and DeNiro show up at the end.

Cruise doesn't deserve Michael.

6. You know i was "Evaluated" by some Scientologists back in the early '80s
They had an office on Guadalupe in Austin, TX

I got sucked in to do a free test (Youngter).

They told me that I was an "incompleted person"

Fuck those assholes

8. I bought Dianetics when I was a teen.
The adverts said stuff like "on page 318 is the answer to......." which was total bull. I read the whole thing, how pain recorded engrams in you brain, blah blah blah. Not answers, just an address to contact LRH.

9. I don't think Hubbard even intended for his writings to become a religion
I try my best not to bash anybody's personal beliefs, but that Scientology stuff is whacked out, if you ask me.

11. I can't tell if he did or not
I once read a short article about the life of L ROn Hubbard. His real life was so bizarre that if you tried to sell it as a script for a movie you would be laughed out of every office you took it to.

when he taped a whole lot of celebrities without their knowledge.

14. That might be intresting to find out
from what I understand Pelicano had more taps and bugs working than J Edgar Hoover ever had.

13. I've heard things about his life, too.
I've never read anything by him, but one time my dad took one of Hubbard's books out of the library, and he just couldn't get past the first few pages. It's real heavy stuff, supposedly.
