1. I would say that this lady's life is very empty....
If she has to read all this.

2. I am wondering what she is looking for...
Does she feel empty? Has she suffered a loss? Or does she just feel safe with these? Maybe she should take some ancient history classes and then maybe some theology courses. Of course, that might mean she'll run into some heretics at university. (I've always heard that Baylor, for example, has heretics teaching the required religion classes.)

3. I wondered if she wanted to read these books.
since it was her husband who posted that they were available for anyone who can enjoy them.

4. Becoming A Titus 2 Woman sounds quite scary.
Those are the women that dress "modestly" and submit to their husbands entirely.

I have actually read part of The Power Of A Praying Wife. I soon grew impatient with the writer's style.

6. You are more tactful than I am
If I didn't have to meet the guy to pick them up, I would have expressed an interest in the books, just to keep them out of circulation.

10. My thoughts exactly,
but then my liberal instincts kicked in. Book burning is wrong, even if the books are right wing or totally fundie.

18. Ah, but ...........
Blanket statements like that are what get lefties in trouble.

There's no one more left than I - well, maybe a few, but they're dead - and I'm also in the publishing business. Books are, indeed, sacred to me - almost as sacred as royalty statements.

But, just as my colleagues and I agreed after reading a few of the pieces of tripe that recently became best-sellers in this brain-dead country of ours, some things must not exist, if only to prevent further contamination. So, since we get free books (didn't know that, did ya?), we were happy to consign them to the trash instead of carting them over to the local libraries as we normally do.

Fahrenheit 451, it's not. Believe me. Crap like this just needs to be gone.

9. "TouchPoints for Women" and "Absolute Surrender"
...sound like bedroom how-to guides. Well, the latter sounds more like S&M.

13. There's a guy you don't want to meet,
even if you wanted the books. It'd be safer to just go buy them.

15. take the books
and get them out of circulation.

recycle bin them (two by two just like animals on an ark)

that way you're not burning them and they can be REINCARNATED into another happier healthier book and you won't be passing along this brainwashing to some poor, unsuspecting reader.

16. I do that with fundie parenting books
I'm a thrift store junkie and when I encounter Dobson, Ezzo and other nutty pro-abuse parenting books while shopping, I buy them and help them along to thier next incarnation. I like to think they come back as la leche league pamphlets and dr sears books. :)

I buy up the good parenting books too, and give them to expectant mothers or leave them in waiting rooms at the human services and wic offices.

17. You could always do what I did about 7 years ago
when I "lost my religion" and had several boxes worth of inspirational/Christian books to get rid of. I donated them to my local library. They sell used books for 50 cents to $1 to raise funds and accept donations--tax deductible no less. It's a win win situation.

19. Donate them to a church.
Churches have lending libraries for their members.

Some of those are very good inspirational books if you're into that type of thing. I got a lot out of Stormie Omartian's and Charles Swindoll's books back in my born-again days.
