Two kids given $5 each and told by mom to "pack and leave" .
MARSHFIELD, Mo. -- A mother and her live-in boyfriend are charged with child endangerment after investigators say they kicked her two kids out of the house. The investigation began after a passerby found a 12-year-old boy and his 6-year-old sister walking along Highway CC near Niangua.

The kids were dragging suitcases, shopping bags and garbage bags full of clothing. They were about a quarter of a mile from their home, scared, crying and hungry.

"Thank the good Lord this was someone that wasn't going to hurt children," said Webster County Prosecuting Attorney Cynthia Black, praising the man who picked up the kids.

Police say the children said their mom, Roxanna Osborne, woke them up and told them to pack and leave immediately. The kids say their mother gave them $5 and went back to sleep.

Was SoCal too: My ex-boyfriend's heroin junkie mother sending him to live with the theoretically biological father who had raped her older two children, because her 19-yo boyfriend (she was in her mid 40s at the time) wanted to party.

Between this and the pit bull thing...

Both mothers are probably mentally ill.

I hope those kids get the help they need and can be placed together in a safe home.

And, at least in my state, foster care sucks.

20. Some lowlifes just don't deserve kids.

The kids also said they are afraid that, if their mother and her boyfriend get sent to jail, she will kill them.

The "mother" (I use the word generically) should get her way and never get to see these kids again.

30. Except that this mother is strung out on drugs and probably
has been in several abusive relationships. Getting her off the drugs WILL change her behavior. The boyfriend apparently has anger issues. The disgusting thing is we don't rehabilitate and demand it from people. We solely punish..then these people end up either dead or in fundy churches where they claim "The LORD" got them off drugs but they never deal with the underlying esteem issues and then let a church dominate and control them as opposed to an abusive boyfriend.

47. I wholeheartedly agree
but it is just hard to take sometimes. I do agree. Our penal system is for punishment not rehabilitation not matter what "they" may say.

27. And incidents like this will only get worse as the economy does.
WHen there are no resources, there are no values. People are out for themselves only. We do not operate as a society, we operate as individuals: Dog eat dog. The pit bulls soon to turn the poodles and chihuahuas into breakfast so that they can survive for whatever life dishes out in the coming months.

Or that's how I observed life as we have made of it.

29. The stepfather was a real upstanding character, wasn't he
besides using heroin or crank infront of the kids and torturing them, this angelic character was arrested for, and I quote:

"This is the second time in a little more than a year that Young has been charged with child endangerment. He was arrested and pleaded guilty in May 2004 for using a chainsaw to smash the windows of a van belonging to the woman who was then his girlfriend -- while her three children were inside."

31. can't get the link to work
so disturbing - wanted to read the details - what even leads a person to think (guess that would be a clue) that there would be no repercussions for this - what gives someone this idea?

Poor kids - hard to see anygood for them in the near future - foster care followed by "reunification"? Grrrrrrrr.

There's an organization called Covenant House that helps "runaway" kids who often aren't runaways at all but are actually kicked out. The stories are really sad.

36. Down in deep red Missouri
We were just down there last month, we saw billboards extolling good ole gw*, and more of those damn w stickers than I want to remember.
The sad thing is babyface blunt has raped the social services here, and everyone involved in this mess is going to be fucked, with the possible exception of the abusing boyfriend. He'll go to jail, get three hots ands a cot, all of his medical needs met, he'll be shitting in tall cotton.
While the kids will get shuffled off to abusive home after abusive home, until they hit 18.
This just sucks big green ones.
