I'm the only Democrat in my small department! It is fun |
|
I've been at my new job for over two months now and two of my co workers are visibly disturbed that I am not like minded. (I think what is throwing them is I am not political at work and our work-related core beliefs are pretty much the same so they assumed I am a Bush-lover)
I keep 3 political stickers in my rear window (taped to the inside) BU** SH**, GEORGE W, YOU"RE FIRED and WHY DO WE KILL PEOPLE WHO KILL PEOPLE TO PROVE KILLING PEOPLE IS WRONG?
When one gets off shift, the oncoming officer walks the other to his/her car. One day, I noticed one took 2 steps back and pointed looked at my rear window then said good night and left. The following week, the second walked directly to the rear window saying: "Jim told me about your stickers, but I didn't believe it"
"I didn't know you were a LIBERAL!!!" I told him: "I'm the most dangerous kind of liberal, a liberal with a gun."
He laughed, but couldn't seem to process that "disparity!."
Yesterday, he asked me how he could bring me to the right side. he laughed, but is is obvious that my political affiliation bothers him while my core belief of right and wrong mirrors his and he can't come to grips with that.
Both are Bush loyalists, one going to college bitching about lack of a GI bill and Vet benefits...and they stillpraize BUSH!!! Like the abused child that still loves the fucking abusing parent.
Before these guys knew my political affiliation, they completely accepted me as one of their own believing I thought and believed as they do (at some things I do).
Now knowing I am different, they still treat me the same, but they keep looking at the stickers two months later and are trying to reconcile their perception of what they thought I was with me being a "Liberal".
It is fun to see the puzzled frowns. This really bothers them. Maybe, just maybe I'll convert one or two...Or at least get them to open their eyes and their minds.
One can dream.

2. My son's school principal is a bu**sh** supporter |
|
We'd known the family for years before our son enrolled in the middle school. Like you, we have similar values to this family. They were stunned to see our Kerry sticker. They're still friendly but a little cooler - no sign of any real thinking entering their brains so far, though.

4. Yes it can! If you think about it for a second |
|
We work in security and I am a moderate Democrat with conservative views but strong core values of right and wrong. Don't lie, don't steal, treat others as you want to be treated.
These guys have strong moral values. The problem is they have taken the easy path of letting Rush Limbaugh think for them and voice their views.
They like what they HEAR from the Christian Reich, they just haven't been victims of it's hypocrisy. SHIT, all of them admit to listening to Reich-wing radio and that is where they get all their info and belief support!
When I get frustrated, I tell closed-minded people to "read something other than Rush Limpballs lips." it doesn't win arguments, but it sure shuts them up.

5. you said--that you are |
|
a "moderate Democrat with conservative views"
What does that mean? What views do you have that are "conservative"? I am curious as to WHY they would mistake you for one of them.

6. I believe in what most Republicans espouse but don't practice |
|
I believe in smaller government. That does NOT mean I believe in tax relief of the republican kind.
I am conservative in gun control. But not the rabid fuck-head type of the NRA. I believe Americans have the right to have firearms. I used to have an arsenal and now have a .22 rifle and a model 94 winchester.
I used to be an avid hunter but gave it up ages ago. I believe govt should stay out of our private lives (No more Bush/Schiavo fiascoes) but should pay for all of our health care fully fund our schools and keep our roads in good condition.
If you can't find a job, Uncle Sam should restart the CCC's and HELP Americans get back on their feet.
Government should pay tens of billions into stem cell research nd into alternative energy.
This is why I'm a "moderate' too many people label each other. if you are Republican you are a Christian right wing nut-job. if you are Democrat you are a Kerry-loving liberal who won't support the troops. Fuck the LABEL, what are you DOING to change America for the better?
Bush professes to live by the teachings of Christ, yes it the killingest Governor in America's history. He cuts funding to the needy (As you treat the least among you, you treat Me) The poor fools who work with me don't see the hypocrisy of Bush or most of the current Republican Leadership. (Cheny, Wolfowitz, Delay, Hastert, Hastings.) they have lost the ability to think for themselves and have been drawn into the hatred of the label, not the action of the person labeled.
