What's the max MPH you can drive on a spare tire?

4. I've driven on one for 3 weeks every day at about 65 MPH

I think the Manufactures say something like 55 but I've never had any problems..

You might want to check the sidewalls though, to make sure that they are not rotten. (Cracks in the rubber)

10. I don't know how fast you can drive on a 'doughnut' spare tire,

but I know people who have driven for *months* on one (freeway driving included). I think they are pushing their luck.

Check the air pressure too - if it was in your trunk for awhile, it may have lost something.

Once I had to use mine and use the highway, and I forgot about it and inadvertantly went faster than recommended w/o incident.

I also recently saw a suit driving ~70 with one on his car (he was in his large car and on the cell phone - definitely pre-occupied).

They'll take a little abuse, but who wants to chance it.
