Paris Hilton gets snubbed at LA Pride.

I missed her, cuz I went back to my casa to refill m' drink, but Paris Hilton did not get the warm welcome at LA Pride today.

Early this morning, my hubby said the local news carried stories of how she was causing ill feeling for being awarded the Grand Marshal at this years pridefest in LA.

I was talking with people last night at the pre-parade party and everyone I spoke to thought it was bullshit that she was allowed in the parade.

Michael said that they had to have police surround her stank ass when she went by. There was this guy who went and bought a Carl's Jr. Hamburger and was going to throw it at her. He wasn't able to because of the police. There was mixed responce with some people cheering and many people booing her ass.

Welcome to the real world, Paris. We don't like your ass. Thanks for the big ass check you sent to Christopher Street West, cuz that' the only way you got in the parade in the first place.

I don't know what the fuck she thinks about us. I haven't read or heard one word...one syllable...from her about homosexuality, about GLBT people, about same-sex marriage, any of the issues important to us. Not in the Advocate, not in any of the gay press or the mainstream media, for that matter.

That selection of her as grand marshall of the LA Pride Parade (one of the most high profile in the country) is a sad, pathetic joke. Surely, in all of Hollywood, the Pride Parade Committee could have asked some celebtity (although I don't know why it has to be a celebrity) who actually is a friend, a supporter of the GLBT community, a vocal one, to be grand marshall.

Fuck Paris Hilton. I know that some people thought it was cool and might like her sorry ass, but having to have police escort shows that she wasn't welcome.

They have not returned ANY e-mails and will not answer phone calls.

La Hilton must have sent a big ass check to them.

In 2000, the City of West Hollywood basically told Christopher Street West (the comittee that runs the parade and stuff) that they had one year to get their shit together or the city would take over.

It's interesting that not ONE politcal offical from the City of WeHo road in the parade this year.

The Mayor-Elect of LA was there though. GOD he's CUTE!!

And what's galling about this is that Gay Pride (and Gay Pride Month, which June is) is a celebration of the GLBT community ("Gay Pride" should be renamed GLBT pride, IMO). Paris Hilton has no ties to the gay community. She's never uttered a single word about homosexuality or GLBT people. Hell, she could be a raging homophobe for all I know. The LA Pride Parade community seemed to have just focused on her celebrity in their choice. There are other celebrities...how about the entire cast of "Will and Grace", for instance...who have either publically spoken out in support of GLBT issues or who are friends of our community.

Choosing Paris Hilton is a bit of slap in the face to the LA GLBT community, I'm afraid.

She has had a public falling out with La Hilton. My friend Johnny's best friend worked at Elton John's Oscar party and said that La Hilton was a total bitch.
