They had no say in running up the debt, why should they be stuck with it. It is charged to your estate. It would lessen the amount you would be able to leave to your children.

4. No. They absolutely don't inherit your debt. |
|
Not unless they co-signed your loans. Your debts are paid out of your estate. If there isn't enough money in your estate to pay your bills, bummer for your creditors. Your children absolutely do not inherit your debts.

9. all creditors have a 'bad debts' account... |
|
where all bad debts go. they have plenty of room to write off anything.
a friend of mine died, and we had the same dentist. i had an appointment, and i mentioned that so-and-so died, and that i knew she had a bill with the dentist, who very matter-of-factly said they'd just write it off.
i'm not worried about leaving bills behind.

No one "inherits" debt unless they co-signed for the debt.

8. Well, not yet....I am sure the pugs and their Democratic |
|
enablers are working on passing personal debt to the next generation (both parties have succeeded in passing on government debt to future generations)..
Currently when you die your debt is not passed on. Creditors can ask the estate to pay any outstanding balances if you did not take out the provision to cancel the debt upon death. My mom's husband died in 2002 and they had a provision in their truck loan that if one of them died then the truck was considered paid in full. They had to pay a premium for it, I guess it's similar to a life insurance policy. I think this is also available on home mortgages as well.

16. Depends on the debtor; they used to be loan sharks with a smile. |
|

Now they're loan sharks with a frown, who make bigger smiles in front of the cameras.
I hope people stop using the things totally so THEY can go bankrupt. They're a corporation, so they can and get away with what they please. (another reason why I do not respect our "society", it is no culture of life, there is no compassion, it is about selfishness and greed that dares to excuse itself by promoting itself as "being an individual" and "freedom" which is the biggest steaming pile I've ever heard of. Individuality has nothing to do with rampant greed and if we're a free country, how come everything (literally) is for sale to the lowest bidder, unless you're a politician in which case it's a god damn auction!

14. As our 'society' is an oligarchic plutocracy, the only ones truly in it ar |
|
the larger corporations.
We are all expendable, disposable, machines to them.
Many people just don't understand this and it's a shame. Of course, being bred to "Romper Room", "Barney", and other shows that tell kids to follow the leader thater to frigging THINK about how society works... (and when people do think, someone else trots in saying "forget about the world, just find ways to survive in it as it is." Well, that's why this shithole continues to get more and more smelly.

13. Only if the society was fair and just... 'xse me while I laugh... |
|
I recently it learned it wasn't, and that was just about the time the offshoring began and the shithead politicians who support it.
Never mind these new "reforms".
While I owe a lot less than MANY, I sitll owe more than enough - and I would rather die than to have everything I have 'reposessed'; I've been told by financial experts I just don't owe enough that would make any judge consider bankruptcy.
Besides, I came into this world with nothing.
I shall leave it with nothing.
Our "society" raises us to want and acquire and own posessions; makes things look immortal. It speaks not of depreciation... not to mention faddy clothing, made in sweatshops, with some nobody's name on it - like Timmy Nofingers or New Navybeans or whatever. Why would anybody buy something that gives the company free advertising via its gigantic logo blazened across the front? Advertisers pay other people to do the same, so why is it the inverse for us?
Rant rant rant. Nothing will change until the crash, and that's true for every nuance of our society we lefties complain about. May the crash happen soon then.

They can go fuck themselves.

I shall do the same once the time comes.
While I will be able to float the bills, which is what I want to do, I know my physical health has declined over the last 6 months... I really need not look at the long term job situation any more.
Not to mention that my annual allergies seem to be getting exponentially worse each year.
Yeah, it took a while but it just dawned on me that things do end. Just not as far out into the future as most of us take for granted.

19. Does society owe it me to die before I pay my debts? |
|
;-)
This was my question as a teenager, which was how old I was when I signed for the loan that I'm STILL paying off.
Seriously, I was 17. I thought I had no future. If I didn't go to college, I thought I would just work in a grocery store for a few years before I killed myself. And I seriously believed that our economic system would completely collapse before I was ever held accountable for my debt.
I will pay my debt. I am paying my debt. But I seriously believe that teenagers should not be given the choice of signing their lives into debt or not going to school. Education should be free---all the way.
