Finally! I hit my eskimo roll five times tonight! |
|
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 09:42 PM by eyepaddle
And it was in water deep enough that in no way did my paddle hit bottom--I did that shit clean!
It ain't bombproofed yet by any means--but now I have somehting to work with :D
I promised a few people (California Peggy and Joan Alpern) that I was gonna make myself a nuissance around the lounge once I got my roll down. Well, it's down! :D :D :D :D :D
You might as well congratulate me or I'll just keep kicking this.
Seriously folks, there's at least ONE happy DUer tonight!

That's so cool... :bounce: Falls into the list of 'scary things' for me, for sure. I mean, what do you do when you inevitably get stuck the first few time?
Anyway, Congrats, that's awesome!

3. If you get stuck you pop off the spray skirt and push the boat off |

of you. It's called a wet exit. I usually do a somersault underwater to clear the boat and come up oriented properly to grab all my stuff. It's actually really easy. If you take a class (as everybody who wants to do whitewater should) that is the FIRST thing they make you do.
I've just had to do it WAY too many times B-) sometimes if you swim a rapid your buddies will make you drink beer out of your bootie (river shoe) aka the famous bootie juice. I'm tired of that. No matter what kind of beer it is, it comes out tasting like Pfeiffer's! :scared:

5. Ah... that makes sense |
|
Getting trapped underwater is something of a fear for me, so I think it would still be scary, but glad to hear that it's not as bad as I was imagining.
UGH to the bootie beer... glad you're not going to have to do that too much more! :)
