When I first thought of doing such a poll, I figured it wouldn't be easy to come up with 9 names, but this turns out to be far from the case. I feel kind of creepy, or anyway disrespectful, putting on people I revere like Frederick Douglass next to Fred Flintstone, but if I don't he'll just dominate the Other vote. Trust me that no disrespect is intended.

Crushed that I can't fit Freddy the Flute from H.R. Pufnstuf on here. Ditto Fred Allen. Durst (although I had him listed as "That idiot from Limp Bizkit") bites the dust in favor of Mr. Rogers, but I don't feel as badly about that.

First edit: Bad day for the Germans. Fred Schneider replaces Nietzsche; Fred Willard replaces Fred the Great.

2d edit: The late great Fred Harris sadly will be replaced by the also late also great Freddie Mercury. Y'all aren't going to think it's funny if I put on Paul Rodgers instead, are you?

Because he came from the same litter as his big orange brother, Ginger.
I named Ginger first. Then, when I asked my mom what I should name the other one I was taking, she said "Well, if one's Ginger, I guess the other one should be Fred."

I've been owned by numerous cats over the years, and never had one named Fred. I figured it was time I had a cat named Fred. His sister's name is Freida.

I try hard not to give two cats the same name over the years. Kind of like race horses.
Currently along with Fred, I have Ginger (Gingee Bee), Abu the Terrorist (Boo Mew), Mommy, Urkel, Starkweather (Frankie) and Little Girl Mew.
