One of the best I've seen in awhile.
Well acted, written and directed.
Sandra Bullock gives the performance of her career. Matt Dillon, Thandie Newton, Ludacris, Ryan Phillipee, Larenz Tate also shine. And of course Don Cheadle is amazing.
I think this is his name Michael Pena, the locksmith, was also very good. His storyline was my fave.
The only actor who was miscast, imo, was Brendan Fraser, who I think is an awful actor.
A powerful, thought-provoking, emotional movie. I cried several times, I laughed some and the rest of the time I was stunned at what was on the screen.

Loved it. In fact, the soundtrack just arrived here today, and the locksmith is on the cover (holding his daughter, screaming).
Did you see "Magnolia"? If not, see it. You'll like it a lot.
Brendan Fraser is sort of a cipher, but he wasn't all that much in the story. I was stunned by Sandra Bullock's performance, though - she sure went out on a limb with it. Good for her.
I loved it.

I think the line after the soundtrack bit needs it. But of course if it's on the soundtrack cover maybe not.
That was an unexpected and very emotional scene for me.

I saw Magnolia. Very good as well except Cruise's character. I hated that role. I hate much of Tom's work to be honest.

But in Magnolia, I really thought he was first-rate.
Similarly, I can't stand Matt Dillon. But, he was great in Crash.
Go figure.
Thanks again for spotting that.

9. I could never decide . . . |
|
. . . if that particular Crash was a porn flick disguised as an art film, or the other way around.
Which isn't to say I didn't like the film. I did.

I thought it promoted many of the racist stereotypes it claimed to argue against.
e.g. the only black people in the posh white neighborhood are carjackers, muslim men really are crazy, violent psychos.
Oh, and then they made the rapist the hero.

But I think this movie is a must see. It gets the thought bubbles going.

13. I totally agree, I thought it was mostly reaffirming the racist view |
|
by the same reasoning. It was an interesting film but not the best of anything. The only thing daring to me was the scene with a very dark skinned man with a very pale skinned woman in bed. That was nice to see, however, the stereo-type of his mom being a crack head was typical. I would have rated it a C.

I did go up to use the bathroom once or twice. I never saw her smoking crack, just saw her forgetting children and to take care of herself.
She was really a crack smoker?

But Wayne Brady wasn't in it, I don't think.
The woman who used crack her son the cop was played by Don Cheadle.

I was thinking of the character who was supposed to BE Wayne Brady. Or maybe Cuba Gooding, or Bryant Gumbel.
A gentrified black man who works in TV and is a borderline Steppin Fetchit. I thought the breakdown in the black SUV was a little to close to the Chappelle skit to be coincidence.
