I was hoping it was just an epidemic and I'd get over it like the flu in a week to 10 days.
What are the phases of political maturity anyway?
1. - The awakening -- "Huh, what the?" 2. - Denial -- "Nah, not my party, not my candidate?" 3. - Rational thought subversion -- "War is peace". 4. - Partisan blame -- "It's the *other* party's fault" 5. - No rational thought -- for 10 to 20 years. 6. - The real awakening -- "What the?, HEY - they're screwing me!" 7. - Incredulous -- "How could I have been so stupid?" 8. - Anger -- "BASTARDS!" 9. - Lust -- "Boy, are they good at manipulation" 10. - Outrage -- "They've been screwing us all, and they won't stop!"
You see, my problem is I went from 1 to 10 too fast. I skipped 2 thru 7 and am psycholically not prepared for 8,9 and 10.
On edit -- I think I'll leave it as psycholically, it may even be a word!
Crap.

I keep thinking of the Leonard Wibberley quote: "The world is run by madmen and all we can do is tend to our gardens."
Was it always this bad?

4. I think every generation has an evil to put down. |

I was to young for Vietnam. I have a dog in this fight -- 2 daughters who deserve to have a world that's a good place to live in.

6. I have a boy, 15 years old. |
|
And I am scared for him. This shit coming down makes me want to cry; what will we do if they try to make him fight?
A rhetorical question. I'll show those assholes war if they try to use my son like a tool. No way.

7. I'm lucky; my kids are not draftable |

My kids have a muscle disorder that will keep them out of combat. When I met their father, Gulf War I was still going on, and his (and possible sons') draft-resistance was one of the things I liked...
