Poll question: Which Is WORSE for Your Health: Marijuana or Beer?
I am asking this question after a fierce debate at a party this weekend. One side said that Marijuana had never been proven to be a serious health risk, in fact its used in many lab experiments as a cure or treatment for some illnesses. Also saying that alcohol has no good at all for you. It tears up you kidneys and is worse than the effects of pot.

The other side argued that Marijuana is addictive (Like alcohol and cigarettes aren't) and leads to heavier drugs. They also argued that it could send you into epileptic seizures.\

In your knowledge which is WORSE Marijuana or beer.

Beer-not liquor just plain beer-Coors light bud light-

What do you think would have the greater health risk, a six pack or 12 pack or beer a day or a joint or bowl a day?

2. If all else is equal,
the extra calories in beer push it over the edge (beer bellies are very dangerous for the heart)

3. Depends on what kind of beer and how much.
Guinness is said to be very healthy for you, provided you drink it in moderation.

16. Not true
Very few companies bottle condition(carbonation takes place in the bottle) Of those that I know who do this it is the smaller craft brewers, and of course us home brewers. The large companies force carb their beers. Guiness, and a couple of other companies put the nitrogen widgets in their beer to try and simulate the nitrogen charge that gets added when it is on draft. this is in addition to the normal force carbing.

17. How does adding sugar to the fermentation make a beer....
...less natural? Sugar isn't organic? It's true that many cheaper beers add sugar to speed things up, but it doesn't make them any less "natural".

4. It definitely depends on the amount.
1 beer vs. 1 joint, I will go with the joint being worse.

12 beers vs. 1 joint, I will go with the beer.

The point is it takes more beer to get its maximum high than it does weed.

6. a beer a day
is not bad- a 6 or 12 is bad
so the poll is a bit off I think- one or two beer vs a bowl.

I gave up smoking due to having exercise related breathing problems. 1st day of college basketball practice & could not catch my breath....not good...almost lost the scholarship

9. Beer can be healthy in moderation.
A sixer or a twelve-pack a day, not so much. One or two a day will actually be good for ya. Many studies tout the benefits of light alcohol intake on a regular basis, and not just with wine. You can derive many of the same benefits with beer.

'Course, you didn't really list any beers in your post. Light beer is the work of Satan. Leave the macro-produced light-beer swill behind and drink microbrews. Get a nice sixer of Dogfish Head 60-Minute IPA, or a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, or even a nice Sammy Adams product.

Beer. Is there anything it can't do?

11. Pot should be legal
but that is not to say it has no risks. It is not healthful to breathe any kind of smoke into your lungs...marijuana, tobacco or industrial pollution. All contain carcinogens.

12. totally
they need to start promoting ganja food more and vaporizors. if you like pot, one doesn't necessarily have to inhale it.

13. A six-pack per day compared to a jay per day?
No contest. Your liver will turn to fatty jello if you drink that much per day.

A person who smoked one jay per day would never show any negative health affect of any kind, I think.

14. When you need that altered state to function, then it's bad.
And I've heard all the arguments about how pot is not addictive (I went to school in Oregon), and although it may be true that it is not chemically addictive, you will NEVER be able to convince me that it isn't psycologically addictive. I had so many friends in school that could not do anything sans marijuana. It's pathetic. I've also known people that were the same way with beer.

Personally, I think both options suck and abstaining from EITHER would be a person's best option.

What is worse for you health wise, sucking on the exhaust pipe of an 18 wheel tractor trailer or doing lines of crushed up smarties and road tar? You may not die right away, but I'll take neither thank you.

15. A beer a day is much better than a joint a day
and less immobilizing.

Now, the two together ..... isn't that called a party?
