NEW YORK -- Russell Crowe's wife won't make excuses for her husband in light of his alleged phone-throwing incident that resulted in assault and weapon charges against the Oscar winning-actor.
Danielle Spencer tells the Sydney Sun-Herald that Crowe had no right to throw a phone just because he couldn't place a call to her in Australia.
Prosecutors said Crowe admitted to a police officer that he threw a telephone at a Manhattan hotel concierge out of anger in the early morning of June 6. They said the phone hit the worker, Nestor Estrada, in the face, causing him "substantial pain."
Crowe publicly apologized to Spencer for his actions on "Late Night With Letterman" show last week, saying he reacted poorly to being a lonely family man away from home.
Spencer said she understands Crowe was lonely, but that's no excuse.
A singer, Spencer said she can't come to the U.S. to be with her husband while he promotes "Cinderella Man" because she has commitments with her recording career.
