Worst Song for All Time: Mr. Roboto.
Just heard it again on the radio, that song unintentionally makes me laugh hysterically.

I'M KILLROY! KILROY! KILROY! KILROY!

"Summer Girls"

New Kids on the Block had a Bunch of Hits
Chinese Food Makes Me Sick
And i think its fly when girls stop by for the summer
I Like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if i had one wish
But she's been gone since that Summer ...

Hip Hop Momma Layed Spic & Span
Met you one summer & it all began
You're the best girl did i ever did see
The Great Larry Bird Jersey 33
When you take a sip you Buzz like a Hornet
Billy Shakespeare Wrote a bunch of sonnets
Call me Willy Whistle Coz i cant speak baby
Somethin' in your eyes really drove me crazy
Now i cant forget you and it makes me mad
Left one day and Never Came Back
Stayed all Summer then went back Home
McCullay Culkin was in Home-Alone
Fell Deep In Love, but now we Aint SPeakin
Micheal J Fox Was Alex P. Keaton
When i met you i said my name Was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch

Chorus 2
New Kids on the Block had a Bunch of Hits
Chinese Food Makes Me Sick
And i think its fly when girls stop by for the summer
I Like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if i had one wish
But she's been gone since that Summer ...

Cherry Pez Coke Crush Rock Stud Boogie
Used to hate school, so i had to play hookie
Always been hip to the B Ball Style
Known to act wild and make a girl smile
Love new edition and the Candy Girl
Remind me of you because you rock my world
Come from Georgia where the peaches grow
They drink Lemonade and speak real slow
You love Hip Hop and Rock & Roll
Dad took off when you were 4 years Old
There was a good man named Paul Revere
I Feel much better baby when youre near
You love Fun Dip and Cherry Coke
I like the way you laugh when i tell a joke
When i met you i said my name was Rich
You looked like a girl from Abercrobie and Fitch

Chorus 3
New Kids on the Block had a Bunch of Hits
Chinese Food Makes Me Sick
And i think its fly when girls stop by for the summer
I Like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if i had one wish
But she's been gone since that Summer ...

In The summertime girls got it goin on
Shake and wiggle to a Hip Hop Song
Summer time girls are the kind i like
I Steal your hunny like i stole your Bike
Boogaloo Shrimp and Pogo Sticks
My mind takes me back there oh so quick
Let you off the hook like my man Mr Limpit
Think about that summer and i bug coz i miss it
I like the Color Purple, Macaroni and Cheese
Ruby red slippers and a bunch of Trees
I call you up but whats the use
I like Kevin Bacon but i hate Foot Loose
I Came in the Door I Said It Before
I Think Im Over you But im really not sure
When i met you i said my name was Rich
You looked like a girl From Abercrombie and Fitch

Chorus 4
New Kids on the Block had a Bunch of Hits
Chinese Food Makes Me Sick
And i think its fly when girls stop by for the summer
I Like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if i had one wish
But she's been gone since that Summer ...

Summer girls come and Summer girls go
Some are worth While, and some are so so
Summer girls come and Summer girls go
Some are worth While, and some are so so
Summertime girls got it goin' on
Shake and wiggle to a hip hop song
Summertime girls are the kind i like
Steal your honey like I stole your bike

Chorus 5:
New Kids on the Block had a Bunch of Hits
Chinese Food Makes Me Sick
And i think its fly when girls stop by for the summer
I Like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if i had one wish
But she's been gone since that Summer ...

one time to remove a group of obnoxious assholes from the lounge at school, i loaded up the final countdown on my laptop and played it at full volume 2 or 3 times in a row, by the 4th time, they were pretty well agitated and just left. it was worth the pain.

21. Yup, so bad it could have been written by Rush.
Kinda right there on the pretentiously stupid psuedo-intellectual level with most of Rush's stuff, and even sounds like it. "I am the modern man (secret secret, I've got a secret" vs. the "New Age Man."

Blechhh.

A friend of mine described going to a Styx concert in New Jersey just after that song came out and how half the audience were in hysterics at how awful the "rock opers" was, and the other half keep booing and throwing crap onstage. He said Tommy Shaw looked like he would be happier getting a drano enrma than "acting" in the concert..

31. Naw, it's Muskrat Love.
Mr. Roboto has one thing going for it, and that's an overly synthesized, "We wanna be like Foreigner" quasi-hard-rock sound that drowns out the words, except for the Japanese robot-spoken "domo arigato", which is actually pretty cool if you don't listen to the rest of the lyrics.

Since you can't understand what the hell Dennis Deyoung is saying (and you can't even get the idea of what he's trying to say since he even fails at trying to sound like a shreiking, agonized, Tommy-like protagonist), it's just not as bad as some others.

34. America's version hits like a lightning bolt.
You'd somehow expect the song to come from Captain and Tennille, and what were they thinking when they decided, hey, let's do a cover of this thing, I'll never figure out. But if you look at their other hits, it makes sense. Then again, I don't wear a captain's hat and sit in the corner silently like I'm starting on a psychotic break, either.

But the beast was spawned by America. Clearly, they were smoking something strong. A little bit got them Tinman and Sister Golden Hair. A little bit too much, and they got Horse with No Name. Still, it's a strung-out decent song if you don't try to figure out if it's about heroin withdrawal or not. But throw in a Chipmunks 45 played on 33 into a fairly decent collection of songs, and it hits you like a rock on your windshield.

33. Not even in the bottom 1000. You have to include ALL of Rick Astley's
"music," fifty percent of the top 40 songs of the 80s, 75 percent of country in the last eight years, and REO Speedwagon and Boston before you can even touch a Styx song. And even then I bet I could think of a few Styx songs worse than Mr. Roboto if I tried.

MHO, anyway.

40. A Hundred Pounds of Clay
If you've never heard this, and I hadn't until about 8 years ago, you have to imagine it sung by a black man imitating Jerry Lewis imitating Sammy Davis Jr..

A Hundred Pounds of Clay
Gene McDaniels

(Written by Bob Elgin, Luther Dixon, and Kay Roger)

He took a hundred pounds of clay
And they He said "Hey, listen"
"I'm gonna fix this-a world today"
"Because I know what's missin' "
Then He rolled his big sleeves up
And a brand-new world began
He created a woman and-a lots of lovin' for a man
Whoa-oh-oh, yes he did

With just a hundred pounds of clay
He made my life worth livin'
And I will thank Him every day
For every kiss you're givin'
And I'll thank Him every night
For the arms that are holdin' me tight
And He did it all with just a hundred pounds of clay
Yes he did, whoa-oh, yes He did

Now can'tcha just see Him a-walkin' 'round and 'round
Pickin' the clay uppa off the ground?
Doin' just what He should do
To make a livin' dream like you

He rolled His big sleeves up
And a brand-new world began
He created a woman and-a lots of lovin' for a man
Whoa-oh-oh, yes he did
With just a hundred pounds of clay

FADE
People, let me tall ya what He did
With just a hundred pounds of clay

46. Naw, "Roboto" Rawks! "Teddy Bear" is the suckiest song ever.
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 09:55 AM by BiggJawn
a "CB" country song from the 70's. "Sung" by some guy with a Phat voice named Red Sovine...

I was on the outskirts of a little southern town
Tryin' to reach my destination before the sun went down
The old CB was blarin' away on channel 1-9!
When there came a little boy's voice on the radio line

And he said: "Breaker 1-9! Is anyone there?
Come on back, truckers and talk to Teddy Bear!"
Well, I keyed the mike and said: "You got it, Teddy Bear!"
And a little boy's voice came back on the air

"'Preciate the break, Who we got on that end?"
I told him my handle, and, then he began:
"Now, I'm not supposed to bother you fellows out there
Mom says you're busy and for me to stay off the air

But you see, I get lonely and it helps to talk
'Cause that's about all I can do, I'm crippled, and, I can't walk!"
I came back and told him to fire up that mike
And I'd talk to 'im, as long as he liked

"This was my dad's radio", the little boy said
"But I guess it's mine and mom's now, 'cause my daddy's dead!"
"Dad had a wreck about a month ago
He was trying to get home in a blindin' snow

Mom has to work now, to make ends meet
And I'm not much help, with my two crippled feet!"
"She says not to worry that we'll make it alright
But, I hear her crying, sometimes late at night

You know there's just one thing I want more than anything else to see
Aw, I know you guys are too busy to bother with me!"
"But, you see, my dad used to take me for rides when he was home
But, I guess that's all over now, since my daddy's gone

Not one breaker came on the old CB
As that little crippled boy talked with me
I tried hard to swallow a lump that just wouldn't stay down
As I thought about my boy back in Greenville Town

"Dad was going to take mom and me with him later on this year, Why,
l remember 'im saying: 'Someday this old truck will be yours, Teddy Bear!'
But, I know I'll never get to ride an 18-wheeler again
But, this old base will keep me in touch with all my trucker friends!"

"Teddy Bear's gonna back on out now and leave you alone
'Cause it's about time for mom to come home
But, you give me a shout when you're passin' through
And I'll sure be happy to come back to you!"

Well, I came back and I said: uh! "Before you go 10-10
What's your home 20, little CB friend?"
Well, he gave me his address and I didn't once hesitate
'Cause this hot load of freight was just gonna have to wait

I turned that truck around on a dime
And headed straight for Jackson Street, 229
And as I rounded the corner, oh, I got one heck of a shock
l8 wheelers were lined up for three city blocks!

Why, I guess every driver for miles around had caught Teddy Bear's call
And that little crippled boy was having a ball
For as fast as one driver would carry him in
Another would carry him to his truck and take off again

Well, you better believe I took my turn at riding Teddy Bear
And then I carried him back in and put him down in his chair
And buddy if I never live to see happiness again
I want you to know I saw it that day, in the face of that little man

We took up a collection for him before his mama got home
And each driver said goodbye and then they all were gone
He shook my hand with a mile-long grin
And said: "So long, trucker I'll catch ya again!"

Well, I hit the Interstate with tears in my eyes
I turned on the radio and I got another surprise
"Breaker 1-9!" Came a voice on the air
"Just one word of thanks from Mama Teddy Bear!"

"We wish each and every one, a special prayer for you
'Cause, You just made my little boy's dream come true
I'll sign off now, before, I start to cry
May God ride with you, 10-4, and goodbye."

10-96...
