Anyone here got a pet tarantula? |
|
I've always liked spiders. Maybe I'll get one. Can anyone tell me more about keeping 'em as pets?

*snork*
That was funny. The spidey-beasts do jump.
I had a pet tarantula for about 10 minutes once.
I have always had a fear of spiders. In mee yout, I had numerous tarantula encounters. That was when we had tarantulas in abundance.
Now they are rare sightings.
I captured one last year, was gonna face my fear and keep it as a pet. Realized I didn't have a safe "home" for it, I let I go. It kept heading towards the house so I got a spray bottle and sprayed it to keep it from going to the steps. That only pissed the creature off and he quickly scuttered into a hole under the porch.
I still worry the arachnid lurks there plotting a mad revenge.

8. My son 'captured' one years ago |
|
and we kept him in a converted aquarium (had a heavy screened top). I can't remember what we fed it (mealy worms perhaps?) but it lived for about 9 months. Another time he caught a small alligator lizard which he kept for about 2 months before he released it.

9. West TX is covered with them. |

After a hard rain they'll be all over the roads. The most I've ever seen was when we went through Arizona, there must have been 1 every 50 ft. Was working on the wire's under my horse trailer several years ago. I just happen to look to my left, and there was one about 18 inch's from my face. I must have hit my head 30 times, on the bottom of the trailer. before i finally came out from under it.
I've hunted bears, hogs, and various other nasty little creatures, but a damn spider, just gives me the Hebbie Jebbies.
