I need to convert a Word file to a PDF-I just downloaded a program off
the web that said it would work. I just uninstalled it because it didn't work. ( or I couldn't figure it out!) Any body able to give me a clue how to do this? Thanks in advance!:hi:

6. I don't know!
I'm doing this because I'm job hunting and a kind person from DU has wants my resume in pdf format to pass onto his associates. The program I downloaded said open the word doc, choose print, change printer to primopdf (the program name appears as a virtual printer) but I don't want to print it, I want to email it. I tried to print it to file but the document was saved as a prn doc. (printer doc I imagine):hi:

3. You need Adobe Acrobat.
Not sure what you tried off of the web. There might be other programs that can do it, but Acrobat is the program you need.

which uses pdf as its native imaging model, allowing every application capable of printing to save documents as pdf. Yeeeeeaaaarrrgh!

11. Well, if you're a trusting sort of person
you can convert the file online at this site:

http://www.ps2pdf.com/convert/convert.htm

You need to turn the Word file into a Postscript file, which you do by printing the file with a Postscript compatible printer driver and choosing "Save to file..." from the print dialog. If you don't own a Postscript printer you can still install the driver for one. There is probably a Postscript driver included with your Windows install disks, but you could also just nab one off of the web. The support section of companies like Cannon or HP would be a good place to look.

The program used to do this conversion can also be run on your own machine, it's free software, but it's part of a larger package called Ghostscript and is sort of a pain unless you're an uber-geek.

The web site claims to delete your uploaded document from their server within 30 seconds of conversion.

16. That would save the print-to-file step
as long as their document translators do a decent job. The nice thing about printing to a postscript file then converting is that the intermediate file (postscript) is created by the application that created the document, so it looks just like it would if you printed it out on your own machine.
