How the hell do I get the little background color behind the words under my icons to be the same as the color of the desktop. I saved a picture as a background and now everything has black squares underneath it. I'm a computer idiot, so any help would be useful.

Is black. Shrink the picture and center it. Then, don't put the icons over the picture.

3. What is your OS? This shouldn't be happening in XP. |

With earlier systems (way back to 3.1) I got freeware programs which solved this problem. Google something like "freeware transparent icon text background." I'm sure there must still be some programs out there to help you.

4. Thanks. It's windows 2000. |

I won't be downloading anything though due to it being a work computer. I think I'll just try to create a background color that meshes with the background.
