What are your thoughts on older woman/younger man relationships?
By older/younger, I mean an age difference of greater than 5 years.

then it shouldn't matter. :)

2. Life's too short to worry about such things.
If someone makes you happy, then go for it!

I didn't know I was that much younger than you though. :P

Edited on Tue Jun-14-05 08:10 PM by Old_Fart
Let me tell you this Jimmy if your kids are the same age or older than your mate it doesn't work out. If your mate is old enough to be the kids parent then it works out. If your kids won't let you date then you have a huge problem.

Let your heart make the decision.

24. there are some spiritualists who believe
that every woman should be with a man at least 7 years younger.

Not sure what I think about that.

I've a friend who insists that any age differential should be no greater than a decade.

Experience has taught me otherwise.

What I do know unequivocably is that age has nothing at all to do with maturity. It matters far less as time passes.

Some of the most successful men I've met well into their 50's have had the emotional bodies of two year olds. So go figure.

Trust your heart hon and have fun.

she was 42 i was 22.

another when i was 24 and she was 39.

in each case the women were great, but the age difference finally was too much. no matter how you slice it, i was just a kid to them.

now that i am 50 i reflect that all they wanted was a hard dick.

51. Well...
I speak in generalities only in terms of my own experiences, but I have found there's something to be said for people who really know themselves and know what they want. There are some old souls in the world, but often that stuff takes a lot of time and experience. Personally, I think I'll be sticking with the 30+ crowd in the future. I am only me, so follow your own heart and gut. I hope everything works out well for you. :)

59. I'm 25 and have an ambiguous relationship with a 44 year old woman.
The thing is, I enjoy being around her and I think she enjoys being around me. The irony is, in a way, I feel younger after having met her because she really opened up my world in many ways. She contacted me because she thought I was just so cute and sweet.

if it's legal and you're both either underage or overage then you should be happy. In high school I had a friend who's parents were ten years apart. I've liked guys younger then me. What attracted me was how they were (personality wise) and of course I was attracted to them. ;)

75. I dated my instructor when I was at Junior College
I always wanted to be hip .B-)

But, seriously, it seemed to work for us. She was in her late thirties and I was in my early twenties. It worked well for us but we just drifted apart because of other non age-related personal issues.

I wouldn't not recommend it to anyone.

I really think it just comes down to the two people involved (what's expected, what are the reasons, etc.)

Sophie's boyfriend, Ernie, told Sophie that when he turned 80 years old he was going to marry a 20 year old girl

Sophie told him, that when she turned 80 she was going to marry a 20 year old boy because......

"20 goes into 80 a hellava lot more than 80 goes into 20"

81. Five Years Is Nothing
The other part of my opinion is that it's really not my business. Whatever makes someone happy is, and should be, fine by me. If i don't like it, then that's tough cookies for me.

86. I am more that 5 years older than big guy, and have been
married for 15 years. I would not trade this relationship for anything in the world.

87. Me too
Mrs. Squeech is six and a half years older than I am.

There are exceptions (most of whom are participants in this board!), but in general, I'm not impressed with younger women. I don't mind the part where they lack world knowledge, one has to expect that in youngsters, but I do mind when their horizon is situated roughly at the end of their nose.

But, as a man in my 50s, I observe that women much older than me are getting increasingly ricketty.

And I'm afraid I may have blinked and missed my own golden years

88. Generally, I think they're just fine.
Actually, last night I was hanging out with a guy seven years younger than me. We watched a movie together and he kept saying he wasn't much of a movie buff and I could "teach" him things about them. I wonder if that's all he meant by that.

89. If you two are happy, WHO CARES is my opinion..
Edited on Wed Jun-15-05 08:01 AM by purr
Actually, whos business is it other than yours? If someone has something negative to say about it, its not their problem. Furthermore, if your happy GO FOR IT. Age is just a number. Tax purposes, ira/401s, lottery, alcohol is the only thing I can see age being a factor in. Not falling in love with someone and being happy.

good luck

on edit: I'm 24 and my husband is 32. Reverse situation but same thing applies.

91. I dated a woman 10 years my senior
She was 35 and I was 25, of course. I didn't know how old she was when we first went out. Her sister asked me how old I was at a "double date" we went on. When I told her, she sort of lost color in her face, but without a tick said "I hope you like older women."

Needless to say, I did like that older woman, and I'd date an older woman again anyday.
