Damn, I just wasted sixty bucks
I bought the Season 1-2 Box Set DVD of Homicide, Life On The Streets.

Best cop show EVER. Bar none.

I think I can live with the financial loss.

1. That's hardly a waste.
Homicide was a fantastic show.

2. You know what PISSES ME OFF about that show?
It took Richard Belzer away from the political comedy circuit.

political or not.

6. I saw him do stand up a few years ago.
He did two or three rare appearances, supposedly in preparation for a return to stand-up (which has yet to materialize). He KILLED. Live band, and he does a dead-on impression of Mick Jagger's stage mannerisms. Not the voice, mind you...

9. When he first appeared on L&O, it was just the opposite for me.
I couldn't picture him not cracking sardonic jokes all the time.

You owe it to yourself to watch him do a routine if you ever get a chance. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to see him do the Ronald Reagan dance.

11. Hey!
I just played his "Another Lone Nut" CD on my station last Sunday night, I kid you not! Funny stuff, and he's a bad-ass..

It was on our "Sunday Night Spoken Word" show; clicly the front page and you'll get what we're playing every week. I'll play it again soon; it was hilarious..

I'll try putting them in the Palm and attaching that to a cassette adapter for the ride tomorrow.

Look at me, maw! I'm joinin' the twenny-first century!

7. Never saw it. Better than...
Hill Street Blues? Or the British cop shows (Prime Suspect, Second Sight)?

17. If I were to pick a British cop show it would be
Inspector Morse.

Yeah, it's a quantum leap beyond Hill Street Blues, Kojak (the REAL one), The Streets Of San Francisco (one of my perennial favorites), and all the others. Homicide is in a class by itself.

8. If you like it that much, how is it a waste?
Unless of course you won't eat for a few days because of it.

10. As good as Homicide is...
And it is very, very good... I'd say that David Simon outdid himself with "The Wire."

15. The first season of The Wire was great-some of the best television ever
I was so hooked on that show. I only saw part of the second season. It didn't thrill me quite as much as the first, but it was still pretty solid.

That's the same people who did The Corner, too.

13. Best Show of its Genre. Won a Peabody Award.
I hated that it got cancelled. God, it was intense, and modern, and cutting edge stuff.
