6. The Peg for a couple years...
I'm from Vancouver originally but my last few years in Canada was in Winnipeg, and it's the best place for us as this time. After 2-3 years there we'll decide if we wanna root there or go back to the west coast.

NEVER EVER coming back here though, not even visits, not this chickie. I've done had it.

36. One townhome complex in EK.
Not my fave area, EK, but it would be close to the gun club for the hubby.

And another in St. James. Which is ok, I lived in St. James before, but I'm not fussed on it. Lived in EK before too, and not really keen on moving back there, either.

And I previously lived in Ft. Richmond and St. Vital and St. Boniface, and they aren't appealing to me right now, either.

I'd prefer being close to the perimeter. I know that much, lol! I guess it's the "you can't go back" thing, I don't really want to live in areas I previously lived, but that doesn't leave much area left. :D

I dunno, I just can't decide where I want us to be. It's tough doing this online!

40. I do too, but I don't want to live downtown-ish
I really like being close to the perimeter. It's that travel-lust one-foot-out-the-door escape-route thing. :D

Well, we got our USD checking account with RBC set up, so that'll be taken care of this week.

Cept I GOTTA git rid o'this drawwwwl. Or is it a twaaaang? My Canadian banker-friend says he shore can hear one...AAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!

That's gotta GO! :D

18. Ontario is loverly!
There are forms you fill out, Part A of Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class, and then forms hubby fills out, Part B, and then you need your documents (birth certificates, marriage certificate)

Then hubby will need a police check and a medical (the medical you have to do at a Cdn-approved doctor, there are lists for each state).

The forms would probably take you 2 hours or so to fill out, there's nothing much to them;

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/fc.html

Then you send all your forms and documents and the fees in to Cdn Immi. You can wait in the USA until hubby gets his green card, or you can go to Canada on a "visit" and just stay and get his green card there.

If you have a car/cars you'd want to bring up with you;

http://www.riv.ca/english/html/how_to_import.html

Your household goods are tax & duty free to bring with you, you need to fill out an inventory list on a Form B4, and this link has lots of info and other links on household, cars, pets etc;

http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/E/pub/cp/rc4151/rc4151-e.html

26. You don't sound thrilled.
If an American who was active duty US military then retired & moved away from the US and kept his citizenship so he could continue to vote (as an ex-pat) in US elections, the US military could at any time order that citizen back into the US military, even when the citizen is living in oh say Canada...

Actually, I'm not sure Canada's far enough away from here for my tastes, anyway... I'm thinkin' more like the moon, or Venus...
Anyway, pack some warm clothes... and good luck!
d

ps: I bet you could use some nice warm mittens, huh?
The ones below, though, are a bit pricey...

Elegant Pig-Mittens!

32.  Dollar is all time low, air and water are shit, folks r fat and dumb
A dumber than dirt President and the power greed machine in place that put his ass there. I mean, I understand why you are going. I tried leaving myself in December....left the country by plane w/ all my dogs...but I came back. Where I went (close to Paraguay in Brazil) I had a very bad experience w/ a so-called "friend" and lost lots of valuable time & precious possessions......so I do wish you luck. But keep the back door open. Come back, please. This country needs all the passionate liberals it can find. The good ol' USA still has soul in some people. We will miss you.:grouphug:
