Question re: local news
Quite often, when I'm watching local news, the announcers will breathlessly begin with "we've got breaking news now. There's a house fire in 600 block of Main St...."

Unless it's your house, how is this breaking news? I understand the concept of "if it bleeds, it leads", but they do this even when there are no casualties.

What gives?

1. Let me guess: WPXI.
Channel 11 has the worst news ever, or at least it did when I lived in the 'Burgh.

3. Eww. Yes.
I remember reading a few years ago the Pittsburgh scored dead last in a rating of local news channels from region to region. I guess KDKA had the highest grade: D.
