I graduated from one curruculum last semester with only a couple of classes carrying over to this semester. If I flunk out of this class, my GPA will severely be affected. We have a GPA in every class as well as an overall GPA at my college. I'm on the Pell Grant. This is considered a Major Core class which means it counts for more toward the overall GPA. I'm so screwed. I'll owe money if I try to drop this class and start over from the beginning this fall like I was supposed to. I would be more ready for this class if I had started the new major from the beginning instead of half way through...

If someone just showed you a puddle of orange paint, you would know, of course, that it was orange. But, when the word "blue" is written in orange paint, your first thought is "blue" because that's what your brain has learned.

As your increasing scores show, you can talk yourself out of it and see what's really there (orange) instead of what you have learned to see (blue). But, it is not easy and you have to try.

So, what we have learned and therefore think we know, "colors" our perceptions and can lead to faulty interpretations if we aren't careful.

I think those of us who are left-handed might have an edge on this one. As lefties, we use the right side of our brain more often, but circumstances make this a right-handed world, so we're equally faced with using our right hand/left brain to an almost equal degree.
