I miss this place
Edited on Wed Jun-15-05 08:27 PM by Finnfan

The most beautiful and peaceful place I've ever been...

On edit: And it was only 231KBs! (I have no idea how to remove that.)

2. That's the Grand Canyon
I went there last month. It was something I had always wanted to do, so I saved up the money and did it. Hiked down to the bottom, stayed overnight at the Phantom Ranch, then hiked back up the next day.

By the way, do you know of anything fun and/or interesting to do in Northern New Jersey? On a Sunday?

We still have to have lunch sometime, too. How've you been? :hi:

4. The South Rim is 80 miles from my door
Just went up there 2 weekends ago to hook up with JanMichael and Thtwudbeme.

Watching the sunset was sublime.

5. So many stars!
I must have spent an hour looking up at the night sky.

You are a lucky man, Woof. That's a beautiful area.

7. There was an Astronomy Club in one of the parking lots
They had sealed off a big area. You can get dizzy contemplating the stars anywhere in northern AZ. :-)

14. Crater Lake, Oregon.
You said "most beautiful and peaceful place" and that was the first thing I thought of. The picture doesn't do it justice. On a clear day it's the most vivid color of blue these eyes have ever seen.

8. One of those places I'll "someday" go.
I've been all over the east coast (and mid-west), but very little out west. One of my long time best friends (since we were 15) moved to Arizona last year too.

:hi:

9. Everyone should see the Canyon at least once
My next goal is to make it to the North Rim, which is only open in the summer, and a considerably longer drive.

Then I want to raft the Colorado River.

Damn life is too short to do all these things. :-)

11. I had never been furthur West than Chicago before.
You really have to see the Grand Canyon it to understand it. Everytime I turned a corner, it took my breath away.

You should go out and visit your friend. Or maybe you could get some nice guy to take you someday. Who knows?

:hi:

12. I've never been west of Colorado.
I was allegedly conceived in California though. Weird, huh?
I'd love to visit her. Arrgghhh! Spare time is so hard to find. The nice guy idea though works for me. :D

13. I was there in spring 1976
I still remember how beautiful the red bud trees were in the little oasis about half-way down. I was with a school trip. We drove from Ohio out west and traveled around by van for two weeks, camping out every night. Deserts, rocks, plants, wildlife. What beautiful places!

15. Grrrrrrrr....
It's not like my parents and I spent the night in Flagstaff or anything. It's not like I've been a DAY from the canyon and still haven't seen it. But no, we were on a schedule.

Bitter? Yeah. Especially since my parents have been more than once.
