If they allow Michael Jackson to perform at Live8, I'm boycotting!!
I have every intention of attending Live8 here in Philadelphia, but now there's word that Michael Jackon might be performing either in London or Philadelphia.

Hell even yesterday several jurors on the Jackson tried said they thought that Jackson was guilty but the prosecutors did complete the case. As far as I'm concern (and flame me if you want) Jackson is a pedophile and should not be invited to Live8)

Jackson Tipped for Live 8

Newly vindicated pop superstar Michael Jackson's plans to breath life back into his music career by performing at Live 8 are being considered by organizers of the star-studded extravaganza. Following his acquittal of child molestation on Monday night, Jackson is keen to return to the stage, and sees either the London or Philadelphia legs of the event as the perfect places to relaunch himself. And Live 8 organizers are thinking about booking the controversial star, who co-wrote the 1980s hit We Are The World with Lionel Richie, raising more than $90 million for famine relief. Promoter Harvey Goldsmith says, "Obviously we'd consider it." But Goldsmith hinted Jackson may not recover from the mental and physical damage he suffered during the grueling three month case in time - after reportedly losing more than 13 kilograms in weight during the court case. He adds, "Whether it's appropriate is another issue, whether he is in a fit state is another issue, whether he can work is another issue and whether he can work live is another issue."

2. Yes, I know the US Constitution says innocent until proven guilty, but...
that only covers certain situations. Certainly not terrorists, and certainly not child molesters.

8. I think he is guilty as hell
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 10:15 AM by Zuni
Just because the Jurors don't agree with me that the State proved it's case (were they waiting for DNA? I don't understand how he got off on every single charge)doesn't mean I am acting unconstituional

18. You are entitled to believe what you want, Lynne. Innocent
until proven guilty applies to the judicial system and the jurors, not the average citizen.

7. If this was the first time accusations were made...
...then I would be fine with the verdict

But we know that Jackson bought off previous accusers over 10 years ago.

9. that isn't the point
"innocent until proven guilty" is for the government---you are allowed to believe whatever you want.

I personally believe MJ is a pedophile and I believe he has molested many young boys. That in no way violates the constitution---I don't have to prove squat.

Just because the jurors expected too much doesn't change the fact that MJ most likely is a child molester

10. THanks, was worried there - but seriously
I just don't think Michael Jackson should be a part of Live8. He's spoiled goods that would take away from what the whole purpose of Live8 is all about. Instead of focusing on the problem of Third World Debt, we'll be wondering what the freak show Jackson would do.

Jackson is not a good idea!

15. LynneSin, I'm 100% in agreement with you
I really don't care what the jury offered in this latest case. Michael Jackson, by HIS OWN ADMISSION, is a--let's face it--pedophile, in the strictest sense of the word. And he is just, undeniably, an overall creepy bastard.

I don't see him helping the Live8 cause at all. He would hurt it. Badly.

16. Good thinking!
Any person accused of being a terrorist, or any person accused of being a child molestor, is automatically guilty. That's great!

Wow. You are definitely a legal genius.

BTW, which one are you?

20. I don't think LynneSin sleeps with other people's little boys every night
I know I'm going out on a limb by assuming that.

I guess that makes her a terrorist, by your definition.

11. He is an awesome performer
And he may be a pedophile but I think I could forget about that while watching him on stage.

How much are the tickets?

19. You're kidding, right?
How in the hell could you keep pedophilia out of your mind while you watch him perform?

Perhaps I could interest you in tickets to a Charles Manson concert? He was good friends with Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys, don't you know.

13. Wow!
From one Delawarean to another, the Philly show really seems like it will suck anyway. For them to even consider putting 50 Cent on the ticket ruined the whole vibe for me. He's pretty much about gratuitous sex, violence, and greed as far as I can tell (I can't stomach too much of that shit). Who else is there? The Dave Matthews Band? They were one of the worst concerts I have ever been to, but at least he's a progressive person.

As far as Michael Jackson--I personally doubt that he's a pedophile but he is an emotional mess and tries to compensate for his emotional instability with excess upon excess. When I saw the special that caused all the controversy, I was equally offended by his uninhibited shopping sprees as anything else.

My thinking was that Sneddon had to be a rethug/freeper. Then after I came to the realization that dems and rethugs were in agreement on MJ, I had a Nader flashback of when he said there was no difference between them. I dont want to believe that but I'm seeing very little compassion in this situation.

21. Acquittal correct, but I think he did it.
While I think the jury was correct to acquit if the Prosecution did not PROVE their case, and they therefore did the right thing, I still think he did it and it just makes me sick.
