So I get this note from my Uber boss today.....
I work at a tv station and I'm an assignment editor. I was hired about a year and a half ago with NO experience(I'm 40, brand new career), but they saw something in me and took a chance.
Our Executive Producer had a week off, so the News Director(Uber Boss) filled in.
He taps me on the shoulder today, hands me a note which, when I read it, expresses how good I was at my job, how well I had everything under control and how much I have grown since taking on the job and in particular the morning show.
One quote, "I hope this experiment proves to you as it has to me that some risks are worth taking. Congrats on a job well done! I am glad you are here."
Handwritten...took me completely by surprise....just felt like sharing. :7

5. Yes and no....I have heard stories about him.....
...but frankly, I keep my head low, bust my ass and work. SO far so good! LOL
He used to work at CNN for years before coming over here. Don't know the whole story, but apperantly when you mention CNN to him ,it can open a can of worms insomuch as he prattles on for eons!

4. Keep It, Just In Case
later down the road they change their mind, or you suddenly have a new boss who wants to make way for his friend from another markket.

Broadcasting is a risky, risky business. TV is probably not as crazy as radio, but I don't trust em...

6. I know....I've worked both now.
They got me from radio. Radio is a lousy business, and TV is right up there.
I am almost always amazed we ever get anythign on the air, and not due to the people I work with, sometimes it's just management doesn't like to make it easy. Very, very thrifty businesses both local radio and tv is.

8. 2 pieces of advice for radio/tv
1. RUN LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL AS FAR AWAY FROM THOSE INDUSTRIES AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE!!!! :P

2. Peronsally I think the best advice I could honestly give is, develop a very think skin. You get fired a lot, passed over, it's a 2 steps forward 3 steps back type of thing(at least for me it was!)

You work hard for really crappy money, I mean really crappy! But if your good, the sky's the limit.

11. He could probably do just about anything
He is very sociable, likeable, nice voice, nice looking,(not a knock out, very talkative, probably would enjoy sales but sort of likes the showmanship of theater too.
