Hot mint tea may be better than sex, but rolling your kayak is

better than that!

Well, more momentous anyway :D

Imagine trying to tie your shoes for two years and FAILING, again and again and again and again.

That gets really annoying.

And sometimes when you fail, you do it in front of your buddies--and not only do they tease you, they make you drink beer out of your nasty river booties.

Well, that's over now. After two years of failure, I started to get it down Sunday night. Tonight I was on fire--I hit it the first six times I tried, and only missed once after that.

It was becoming an obsession--last week if the choice had been between true love or getting that damned roll down--I'd've taken the roll. No foolin' it was becoming an obsession, my own personal white whale. Fortunately, I don't have to make that trade! :)

Ah yes, this week I got my roll down, got an offer to join a band, and tommorrow I'm off to Chicago--and there is almost no limit to the potential upside of that trip, if you all take my meaning :)

After a lifetime of mildly annoying setbacks, I can really use a week like this every now and then. Thanks for listening!

:hi:

1. Congratulations!
My SO has taken instruction on rolling, and just can't quite get it. She says it's exceptionally difficult. She can appreciate what you've gone through to get here.

3. Tell her to hang on,
I took classes, watched videos, had buddies help, nada.

Actually the video "The Kayak Roll" is REALLY REALLY good, it just takes doing exactly what they tell you.

If I can get it down, anyone can! God luck :hi:

2. Yeah, but the hot mint tea might be nice after you've finished the roll,
depending upon how frigid the water was.

4. No argument there!
I mean that tea sounds pretty good, doesn't it? ;)

5. It does. This is strange because my mothers boyfriend used to put
Creme de Menthe in our tea when we had colds as children, and I still shudder when I think of having to drink the nasty stuff.
