When did my baby start studying Einstein?
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 11:42 PM by AlienGirl
Riley (age 9): "Mom, what's the purpose of a Jedi?"
Me: "To protect the Universe."
Riley: "Then what's the purpose of a parrot?"
Me: "To destroy technology."
Riley: "I know what the purpose of the Universe is! It's to make life that understands itself!"
Me: "And some people think quantum theory has interesting things to say about the nature of consciousness."
Riley: "But the quantum theory says that God rolls dice!"

:scared: When did he start studying Einstein?

1. Actually, Einstein believed that God does not play dice
(i.e. he never bought into quantum theory). Bohr is quoted as telling Einstein, "Albert, stop telling God what to do". Sounds like Riley is a budding young physicist :-)

2. That's what Ry was saying, too
that he didn't like quantum theory because it says God plays dice.

I just told him that God does, but it's with loaded dice and he rolls them off the table where no one can see... (trying to explain uncertainty)

3. At the end of his life he said that not only did God play dice
with the universe he shoots the dice where we can't see them.

5. Well Einstein did say that imagination was more important than
knowledge so I think he would have approved of those who roll the 20 sided dice.
