1. That sums it up pretty good.
I once read about a PTA board that tried to remove Arsenic from the table; they didn't want their children learning about poison.

2. I am so embarrassed to say that I went to high school
in Cobb County, about an eon ago but still. Of course this the county that brought us Newt Gingrich.

3. Is this for real?
Do you have a link to an original source? These people are just mindboggling.

OTOH, Earth/Air/Fire/Water do correspond to actual "states" of matter/energy, even if they were called "elements" in ancient times: Earth = solid; Air = gas; Fire = energy; Water = liquid. I don't find this inconsistent with science at all, just an older and more general way of describing things.

4. If it were real
Edited on Fri Jun-17-05 03:49 PM by Sandpiper
I would have posted it in GD.

It's just something that's been circulating on "the internets" for a while.

5. Gotcha.
These days, no idiocy the anti-science fundies come up with really surprises me, so I just had to ask to be sure. To be honest, I hadn't even noticed which forum it was in, since it was in "Latest."

:D

6. Post it in Freeperland
They'll have it on talk radio next week and then will be trying to get it in to text books the week after.
