I know there are successful internet dating stories, hell, many DUers have hooked up online and are doing fine. But what about the internet ones that turned out bad? Got any stories?

I'll start: My older brother was married for about 25 years. His wife met another guy online, and divorced my brother. After successfully suing him for custody of their minor daughter (age 16), she took off, literally in the middle of the night, to go live with Internet Man. She moved four or five states away, AND, left her 16 year-old daughter behind. The daughter (my niece) literally woke up one morning and found her mother gone!

Well, one month after my ex-SIL moved in with her Internet Man, he dropped dead! Now I swear there is absolutely no schadenfreude in this post, just awe at the instant karma that appeared to happen. The whole thing was a shame in so many ways.

Sorry if this is macabre, just want to know if anyone else has any horror stories.

1. I have a funny story

A co-worker was shopping for a mate on the internet and found a guy she thought was perfect. He even sent her a picture and he was awfully cute. After a few weeks of chatting online, she decided she was ready to meet him face to face. So she set up a date and when he replied, he said "Oh by the way, could you wear open toed sandals? I have a major foot fetish."

She canceled the date.

2. sister in law married heroin addict

best thing we ever did was give her our computer. Heroin dude met someone on the internet and left her in the dark of night.
