Sneakers or Tennis Shoes?

What do you call those "generic athletic shoes" on your feet?

At least around here is what they call them.

7. Tennis shoes

Is that a Midwest thing?

8. I don't think so

I always called them "tennis shoes" but here in Massachusetts, they all say "sneakers". Sort of like a milkshake here is a frappe (except in RI, where it is a cabinet!) or a submarine sandwich is a grinder. I wondered what other people called them in other places.


I get teased about it alot, it seems. I'm pulling for "tennis shoes" myself.
