$$$$$untold in gas and laundry expenses.

Fuckity...fuck. Yes, I used a bad word.

We're contacting the Better Business Bureau...and channel 7 for good measure, dammit.

1. How muich are the repairs?
I guess with a $1000 machine and $200 warranty you have no choice but to repair.

3. The tub has a hole, the Gasket was shredded (the machine is 1 year old)
and it's a piece of junk. We tried to just replace it with a new one, but they (HomeDepot, Maytag, God, and Bush) won't allow it. I am really really angry...sitting here in my house that has been decorated with Early American clothepile. :(

2. Over a week with no
washing machine. That's harsh. I hope you get some publicity and they come sooner.

4. It has been since May 10th actually.
We have not had a washer for over 5 weeks. They came to repair it four weeks ago and broke another part and I had to continue to call to get that date. :(

5. that is some expensive machine
what a drag! Cleaning for one - did a much cheaper machine (from the local Sears "dent" store).. I would be steaming with the costs you list.

6. We were stupid and bought a Neptune from Maytag. I have never
owned a brand new washer. I had an old Kenmore, so MrG surprised me with this one...yes I was giddy about it even. Now, I'm not so giddy. :(

11. Sorry to hear that
better business bureau is good - let the store from which you bought the machine that you are about to do so, before you do it -maybe they will kick in and do the right thing.

I looked at them
when we moved in here but we needed a refrig, dishwaher and microwave too so I passed on the fancy one. They are supposed to be so 'green' and save water right? I wished I could afford one now I'm glad I couldn't. My friend got one and had problems too.

May 10th? I feel for ya.

20. Crap. I just bought one.
the dryer too. I guess I should get the extended warranty.

So far the machines are great, but they have only been here about 2 weeks.

8. Jesus, that sucks...We've used the same machine since I moved in
in 1989 and Michael had it for years before that. I thought those things weren't supposed to break that easily.

9. My old beat up Kenmore was more reliable than this thing. The top
gasket that holds the tub in was shredded like it was 20 years old. MrG says they used the wrong type of plastic for it. :(

14. Thats horrible! Our old Maytag is probably 22-30 years old....
Nothing fancy, but it does the job. What you're describing would be a nightmare to me. I remember so clearly how badly I hated going to laundramats, almost having to guard your stuff to keep it from being stolen etc.

Sounds like Home Depot did a real number on you guys. Thats really sickening.

19. My Kenmore washer and dryer died within a couple of months
of each other 2 years ago. They were bought in 1981. They needed about $200 of repairs to be fully functional again, but my sister had an extra washer and dryer that she gave me. They stink. I should have fixed the old ones. Unfortunatly, my BIL, and my son took them apart to get them out of the basement. Live and learn I guess.

21. whoa...those are expensive machines
you should have gotten 10 years out of that baby....

My mom bought me a washer and dryer as a wedding gift...they were Admirals...the washer still works and the dryer was replaced just a few months ago after 10 years of use....and Admirals were cheap...

I think you are right to go to the BBB.

Costs more, but absolutely the best. Other than that, Sears (which is really Whirlpool) is a pretty good brand.

Sorry to hear of your probs. Hope things improve!!!
