she developed a malignant tumor in her neck and the vet said that removal wouldn't help. She is a Jack Russell and I will miss her spirit and her spunk.

she's been so special...she's my daughter's dog, but lived with us for the most part of her life. Such a loyal companion and helped my daughter thru some really rough periods...I know it's for the best, but hurts soooo bad...

6. Not much sadder than the loss of a pet. |
|
I'm sorry. You WILL remember the happiness much more than the hardship.

my one of my own...guess I am in a way...It's really hard to give her up, because she's been such a loyal, loving part of our family. I don't want to be selfish, because I know she won't be suffering any longer, but I'll miss her so...

16. I don't think you're being selfish, |

It seems that animals are so helpless, count on us for everything and love us unconditionally, that it makes it that much harder to let them go.
Our dog's been gone now for 18 months. It was the hardest thing to have him put down. He was a devoted baby to us for nearly 14 years and I still miss him terribly.
I'm a firm believer that their little spirits live on, no longer in pain, but playing and running healthy and happy again.

One of the hardest days of my life was taking my 13 year old Belgian Malinois to the vet to put down. Her time had come. She couldn't control her bowels, had cancer and her quality of life was horrible. We kept her longer than we should have. I wasn't strong enough to go into into the vet's rooms to put her down. My wife held her as she took her last breath. The vet was absolutely awesome. He didn't charge a thing and he let us go ahead of everyone else that day.
If it is time, it is time. It is time but you can survive. I'll leave you with this poem. _____________________________
O not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on the snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush, Of quiet birds in circled flight; I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die.

I have been through this several times and it never ever gets better.
I still miss and love every dog I have ever had.
I have two yorkies now and when their time comes, I have made the decision to have a vet come to the house. It was too painful the other times, even though the vets have been most kind.
Sending my love and sympathy. I will be thinking of you and your beloved furbaby tomorrow.
