Is this the life, or what?
Today's activities:

Up at 9 AM, breakfast of pancakes and Jimmy Dean sausage. Into office, work for a couple of hours. Pile into Missy with Mrs R. and the Little Guy, put roof down, and cruise up State Scenic Road to the Pilot House (roadside dog & burger stand) for lunch hotdogs, foot-long Hummels with Pilot House supersecret family recipe Corn Relish. Drop Mrs R. off at home, then to library with the Little Guy. After an hour collecting a large stock of books, off to town Rec Center to shoot pool for an hour (teaching the young kids a lesson again) while LG farts around outside with his Razor scooter. Home for corned beef & cabbage & taters & onions & carrots dinner, then ride bikes for an hour. Drinks with congenial new neighbors across the street.

Tomorrow: Mrs R. promises Eggs Benedict for Father's Day breakfast, along with fresh fruit salad. Then off to the airshow at a small regional airport about 20 miles away, including a helicopter ride and the coolest radio-controlled model airplanes you'd ever want to see. Dinner: rotisserie rosemary leg of lamb, with Julia Child's 40-cloves-of-garlic mashed potatoes and fresh string beans. Small neighborhood drinkfest for Father's Day with two of the neighbor families.

Am I the luckiest son of a bitch on the planet, or what?

I hope each and every one of you fellow DUers has as good a weekend, I really do. You're good folks, and you deserve it.

Redstone

2. You're eating as much in two days as I eat in a WEEK.
Holy moly, you got a hollow leg or what?

12. Well, we don't eat a LOT at those meals,
for example I don't eat eight pancakes at a sitting...

So it's not as gluttonous as it sounds.

8. You bet I know that;
it's been a long goddamn rough road to get to here, and I am indeed thankful for what I have.

And I appreciate your recognition of that. May you have the same satisfaction in life.

4. Happy Father's Day! We're going to Bat Night at the nearby
forest preserve--daughter's favorite animal--and maybe future career subject! DH is doing whatever the heck he wants,(says he wants to clear brush--LOL--just kidding, I think) and is getting a cool present. Best to you. m.

5. And a late Happy Mother's Day to you...you like bats?
We have bats like you wouldn't believe here (because we have bugs like you wouldn't believe, with the swamp across the street and the woods behind the house).

We have one bat house that we put up in the woods, and are going to build at least two more next week, becaused the first was so efficient at attracting a family of bats...they're great little creatures, aren't they?

Hope you enjoyed your Bat Night, and that you'll enjoy tomorrow as well. My best wishes to Mr coffeenap for Father's day as well.

9. Thank you for your positive thoughts,
and yes, I am eating well. Until I met Mrs R (who is a truly astonishing cook), I always thought of eating dinner as something that you did to keep from being hungry. (Just like swimming is something you do to keep from drowning, rather than a sport.)

But now I look forward to dinner (and breakfast and lunch) every single day, and count myself blessed to be able to do so. I figure, you have to eat whether you want to or not,so why not enjoy it?
