Dylan must have been psychic
The last stanza of "Highway 61 Revisited" is somehow rather ironic, given our current predicament...

Now the rovin' gambler he was very bored
Tryin' to create a next world war
He found a promoter who nearly fell off the floor
He said "I never engaged in this kind of thing before
But yes I think it can be very easily done..."

The song was amusing back when it was new. Now it has become reality.

1. I think the word is prescient..
Great artists and philosophers are very prescient, they see the world in a grain of sand and the future in the passing moment.

5. "how many
deaths will it take till he knows, that too many people have died? the answer my friend is blowing in the wind." many songs from back in the '60s have just as much relevance todat as they did then. how about "eve of destruction" by barry mcguire?;(

6. There were lots of good protest songs back then--
interesting thing is, you never hear them played today. At least, I don't.

On the so-called rock & roll classics stations, I never hear Dylan, one of the greatest recording artists of all time.

Makes me suspicious.

Mustn't stir up people, you know. Mustn't get them to THINK
:sarcasm:

9. you have to be suspicious
about everything anymore. maybe we were naive back in the '60s, but we thought we could change the world. one thing you can say is at least we tried!

10. It's hard fighting against those who are corrupt and all-powerful
I guess it's been that way since the beginning of time-- the
little guy always gets screwed.

7. Others...
This verse is spooky-- 9/11-ish

Now the bricks lay on Grand Street
Where the neon madmen climb.
They all fall there so perfectly,
It all seems so well timed.

And this little nightmare scenario:

Now at midnight all the agents
And the superhuman crew
Come out and round up everyone
That knows more than they do
Then they bring them to the factory
Where the heart-attack machine
Is strapped across their shoulders
And then the kerosene
Is brought down from the castles...
