Apparently I am an ignorant, stupid, sonofabiscuiteater
I had NO IDEA the quakes in California this past week were engineered by Bush, and not something vague and unscientific...

Like plate tectonics and basic geologic principles. :dunce:

1. actually while I agree with basic scientific principles
there are SOME areas where quakes occur in the desert where we have bunkers and are known explosive sites used by the military going back decades where I think that there could be some influence from man made sources

2. Well, yes
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 12:20 PM by ZombyWoof
No doubt the faults are susceptible to those kinds of activities.

But the idea the current rash of quakes is part of a comic-book tinfoil mastermind plan to turn California into a red state is making my brain ache. :-)

Edit: I am sick of the false red state/blue state dichotomy too, on top of the tinfoil.

3. any quake worth its salt
to be started by man made devices would need literally hundreds, if not thousands of nuclear warheads
The amount of energy released by a significant quake is vast---so vast that we can barely comprehend it. A nuclear warhead is a pin drop in energy terms compared to say, the Sumatran quake that caused the Tsunami

You mean Rove didn't mastermind these himself? Using the latest in Megawhoopiecushion technology? :tinfoilhat:

6. Rove admittedly is practically omnipotent
but I think that california is just prone to quakes. Please don't flame, but California is right on a Fault line

The day someone flames someone else on here for proclaiming California has major fault lines is the day I kiss Condi Rice.

Oops, that last thought just made me :puke:

16. The sonic booms from the B2's rattle windows
and shake my house every time they fly over.
So that's what a decent size quake feels like?

23. Uh, sorry, the B-2 is not a supersonic airplane.
So it can't make sonic booms.

27. I don't really know what it is.
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 08:15 PM by xmas74
I do know that when it flies overhead it shakes and rattles the house. And it does make a boom sound sometimes.
We get calls about it late at night at work.
I do know that it stops traffic every single time it flies.

I did look it up. It's high subsonic. All I really know is that it's loud as hell-especially when I used to live about 3 miles from the base.

28. So you're near Whiteman? Maybe it's not a sonic boom
per se, but you're not imagining things...an aircraft that large will generate significant pressure waves that could be mistaken for sonic booms.

How high is it when it flies over you?

29. Depends.
The Stealths fly really low-so low that people will stop and watch. I have heard that there are other craft there but you never see them or hear anyone talk about them (they always talk about the 509th). They usually do nightblind landings and you can hear them instead of actually seeing them.
I used to have pics of the Stealths as they were landing. They are fascinating to watch land.

And I live in Warrensburg but I used to live about a mile or so outside of Knob Noster.

btw-probably not supposed to say this, but it's been quiet around here lately. Too quiet.
