I saw manatee!
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 01:49 PM by Dirty Hippie
Lovely canoe trip this morning.

Saw turtles, alligators, one big fat water moccasin and the best of all
two manatee lying in shallow water!

Paddled for a couple of hours and went for a nice swim. Just me and my two children.

I love where I live. The wilderness is all around me.

Just wanted to share.

2. Where were you?
A few years ago I had my daughter come to Daytona for fathers day. We went to Blue Spring Park, just east of Orlando. While swimming there we ran into a mother and baby Manatee and swam with them. It was a great experience. My daughter will remember the rest of her life.

11. Whoa. How long did you and the manatees swim together?
And the water in those springs is clear as glass, isn't it? That must have been a helluva good time.

Grew up there. Great place to go snorkle. I made mom & dad take me at least 5 or 6 times a summer.

13. Don't know if it's the biggest
but it was one of my favorites. Clear water that went about 50 feet deep or so. Mom took me to Deleon Springs almost every night for a hour or so (we had a yearly pass) and went to Silver and Blue springs from time to time. Yeah I love to swim - :)
Those we're the days. :)

What a nice way to spend the day. I miss canoeing  and can not wait to get back to the Southeast.
