I have a taste for spaghetti. Think I'll make some. |
|
I have ground beef, and ground sausage.
Should I use one of the other, or both?

7. Onions! And lots of garlic. I have no plans for human interaction |
|
this evening and my dogs love me anyway, so tons of garlic.
I usually make meatballs for my sauce and throw in some sweet sausage and hot sausage. I don't usually eat the sausage but it's so great for the flavoring. And my meatballs are to die for. They too, have lots of garlic and onions.
Yeah, yeah, this ain't no date food.

I've seen antique Italian restaurant menus with spaghetti and sardines as a choice.

anchovie paste. You can't taste the anchovies, per se, but it will give your sauce a deep rich flavor, and you won't need to salt it either. Do everything else as you would do otherwise (garlic, onions, I'd skip the bell pepper). Maybe a little red wine?? :toast:
edit: typo; actually, sausage with anchovie paste = putanesca sauce. YUM, it's da best!!

While you're enjoying your deliiisssshhus spaghetti, think of me at work enjoying another GD tuna sandwich for dinner.
But seriously, get some anchovie paste and try it next time; you will NOT regret it sweetie!

17. Spaghetti Sauce, Godfather Style |
|
Only in the old Italian neighborhoods in NY, no one would ever call it that; it was 'gravy'. :)
Clemenza: Heh, come over here, kid, learn something. You never know, you might have to cook for twenty guys someday. You see, you start out with a little bit of oil. Then you fry some garlic. Then you throw in some tomatoes, tomato paste, you fry it. Ya' make sure it don't stick. You get it to a boil, you shove in all your sausage and your meatballs, eh? Add a little bit o' wine. An' a little bit o' sugar, and that's my trick.
