Stevie Wonder Pays Funeral Expenses For Five Philadelphia Girls

http://music.yahoo.com/read/news/20650359

The Associated Press reports that Stevie Wonder has arranged to pay for the funerals of five children who were recently died in a Philadelphia city row house fire. The fire, which took place on June 12 in Philly's Kensington neighborhood, killed three young sisters and two of their cousins. The children's mother and boyfriend escaped the fire by jumping out of their second-story window. Investigators are still trying to determine what started the fire.

Wonder's publicist, Ira Tucker, explained that after hearing about the fire, a heartbroken Wonder immediately stepped in to help the family, saying, "I don't think Stevie has ever done anything like this before. It's just good that something can be lifted from them." He added: "Stevie feels good about this. It's been just a heart-wrenching thing." While in the city next month, Wonder plans on visiting the young girls' relatives.

Wonder's next two performances are both scheduled for next month in Philadelphia.

On July 2nd he'll play outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art for the U.S. Live 8 concert.

1. I hate to say this, but ...
Why is that the adults always get out safe and sound?

Not to diss what the tragedy or what Stevie's doing; it's a kind gesture.

3. I understand what you are saying, but.....
if those adults have a heart at all, I know they must be bent with guilt about the deaths of those children. Sometimes surviving can worse than dying.

5. Because, by the time that most adults wake up
and try to get out it's already too late for the children. They are usually already gone from the smoke inhalation.
I've dispatched for years and that's what I've usually noticed. Also, children, if they are aware of what is happening, will sometimes panic instead of trying to get out. They will either freeze directly to their spot or try to hide under a bed or in a closet, not realizing that they are making it almost impossible to be rescued.
That is why every home should not only have working smoke detectors but also a planned escape route. The detectors should be tested on a monthly basis-preferrably will doing a monthly drill as a family. Every family member should be aware of each and every exit from where they are and where the fire is (make up different spots for the fire to be). Sounds morbid, but it can save a young child's life if they know this information in advance.

4. He is kind beyond belief
While I was in college, ,my best friend met Stevie Wonder.

She told me that he invited her to meet him at the recording studio in Hollywood. She was such a doll that she asked me to go along!
At first, I didn't believe her but I tagged along anyway.

Well, when we got there, he was recording ,"Isn't She Lovely," one of my all time favorite songs.

He was so nice and while we were there, my friend mentioned that her
birthday was a few weeks away. She called my a few days later to ask me to help her plan the list for her Party. Stevie wanted to give her a Birthday PARTY!

I once again thought she was dreaming. Remember that they were just friends, they were not dating or engaged.

The "party" was amazing. It was on the beach at a lovely house in Malibu! There was a wooden dance floor on the beach with a fantastic combo! The food was out of this world! Shimp as big as your hand etc.

About an hour into the party, my friend said that Stevie just drove up and was in a Limo. She took me along to say hello to him.

I was amazed that he didn't get out of the car. He just drove over to say Happy Birthday to her and to find out if she and her guests were having a good time.

That is my Stevie Wonder is WONDERFUL story.
