Have any of you ever been hypnotized?
We have an hypnotist here at the University every fall orientation and I wonder if it is real or faked.

2. I studyed biofeedback at the Cleveland Clinic
And was hypnotized twice. It is real. After the first session I was so dazed that I drove home without picking up my wife who also worked at CCF.

4. It's very real
When I was doing my doctoral lab work, I volunteered for a series of experiments in hypnosis.

I'm of average height and average weight. I ended up standing on a chair with my left arm outstretched while a 200-lb man hung from my arm, his feet off the floor.

No, I never felt like I was in a trance or spaced-out or drugged or anything like that. I remember everything. It just seemed like something I'd always been able to do.

Check it out. It's absolutely fascinating.

12. Hard to explain
It was like I was conscious, but more relaxed than I have ever been in my life. I could hear everything going on around me, but I was completely still and until I was brought out, I was pretty much mesmerized.

7. I remember that from my college days back in the 80s
never worked on me - they did mass hypnosis on an auditorium, and I think about half fell for it.

8. i have been under hypnosis...

you have to want to be part of it, be willing to submit to it. otherwise it wont work.

you have some recollection of what you do, like if you get bumped or something to break the 'sleep' and thats what it feels like, is a form of sleep. all i remember is falling asleep in the audience, and i woke up on stage with a few other people, i was on my back with my arms and legs in the air, i confusedly walked back to my seat to my laughing friends.

10. Does anyone know if it works for weight loss?
I could stand to lose about 50 pounds, but I'm really having a hard time with motivation.

13. A friend of my wife did it - worked for her
It cant make you do something you dont want to do, but it can help you find motivation for thing like weight loss and smoking cessation.
