I wanted to say thanks again for help last week. The very night of my call, the caseworker called me at almost 7 PM to tell me that my case had been completed. (Maybe they told her to stay until she got caught up on everything!) Of course, my card didn't update until the next day, and I was ready to call back if it didn't.
One question...The case should have been done by the 7th, but it wasn't. My unemployment processed on the 10th. She adjusted my FS for the unemployment, cutting me back to only two hundred and something a month (down from the $499 I was originally quoted). Now, I've been here before, and I know that they would have adjusted next month's FS, not taken off what they had already given to me. Should I complain that they owe me a full month this month, which is what I would have had if she had done her job on time?

Yeah, it sounds odd that they would have adjusted the first month like that. I'm not an expert as I haven't done casework in YEARS, but I'd ask about that.

2. Technically, that was the second month |
|
They had already given us May...with the condition that June would be received if the forms from previous employers were returned by the 6th. We turned them in on the 6th (because my other half kept putting off getting his filled out until I made him do it), then she took her time to update the case.

3. Hmmm...I'm really not sure. |
|
I'd ask about it. I'm rather far removed from the eligibility process any more.
Remember, you can go to the office and ask to see the handbook. to make sure what they're telling you is correct.

4. I was thinking of calling the ombudsman's office back and asking them |
|
I'm sure that if I was able to get the caseworker on the phone, she'll tell me that what she did was right.

5. The case worker has a supervisor. |
|
Remember also that the handbook for eligibility is there at the office for you to look at. There should be one at the front desk.

6. I'm sure that she does |

Of course, this person was never available when I asked to see him/her. Handbook at the front desk?

7. I think that's federal rule - the handbook thing. |
|
If that office doesn't have one, they're violating federal policy. If you want to get them in trouble...:P

They have about a million things up on the counter, all crammed into one special area.

9. It would be in a couple of large binders. |
|
I tried to find an online version, but I can't get to one.

I really don't know. I'll probably pay them a little visit tomorrow. I'm being a slug today.
