Poll question: It's Official: Nick Lowe's "Cruel To Be Kind" is Better Than Sex

In my opinion anyway.

One time I heard "Cruel to be Kind" on headphones while in an altered state, and was certain that I was hearing the grestest song in the history of the English language. Other times I've heard this song, sober or otherwise, and really, really dug it.

On the other hand, I've had exactly 23 satisfying sexual encounters, and even those were iffy.

6. Yeah, iffy.
Let's just say that I'm good at a few things: playing bass, drums, artifical farts under the arm, gutting woodchucks, fieldstripping Yugos, etc.

Other things....not so much.

21. "Wouldn't It Be Good" is a better choice.
I still remember it being featured in the movie "Gotcha" with a young Anthony Edwards and Linda Fiorentino.

30. It's a comedy/spy thriller.
Not the best of movies, but it's cute. As a teenage boy, I particularly enjoyed the love scene showing Ms. Fiorentino's, er, assets. ;)

And Rockpile is third.

I was 5 when the Rockpile album came out. Would that one of my own generation's "supergroups" be as enjoyable.....

That's a rhetorical question, by the way.

(& you probably aren't thusly oriented...)

That is the only case I can think of where perhaps the sex might be better than music.

that sex is way easier to get than a decent vinyl copy of "Labor of Lust," so there might be something to your claim.

36. One of the greatest Power Pop songs of all time
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 03:30 PM by Enraged_Ape
I heard this song on the radio just yesterday, and I told my wife the same thing.

ON EDIT: That this song was one of the greatest in Power Pop, NOT that it was better than sex. I don't have a death wish.

I'm not sure keeping count like that is the world's greatest idea, mental-health-wise.
