Shekra is one of my foster kittens. I was about to make the bed yesterday when I discovered this adorable scene. Of course, the bed went unmade. :-)

This was the 'Chessie' system's logo for many many years, even after they discontinued their passenger service (see below):

SUX..Uh, I mean CSX might sic their lawyers on you. I understand that they are VERY stingy with Chessie, even though they could make a buttload of money licensing the cat out...

I spent WEEKS several years ago looking for a Chessie-themed item for a Xmas present. Had to drive 80 miles and found a Jacquard throw.

My parents' new kitten, Widget, looks a lot like Shekra. When she's awake, though, she's into everything! :)

I love Chessie! One of the few companies which early on knew the appeal of merchandising, AND who was smart enough to choose a cat as its mascot!!

I remember it in the 70s and 80s, but I haven't seen a train bearing Chessie in a long time.

That would make a cuter name for my kitten, but the college kids who found her in the Busch Gardens parking lot named her (after their newest ride; the Shekra coaster).
